NRG revamping, building around Seagull and dummy

According to anonymous sources, NRG has decided to restructure their roster once again. While Brandon “Seagull” Larned will remain as the centerpiece of the team, NRG has also elected to continue with support Tim “dummy” Olson. The remaining four members of the team were told that management would be potentially trialling other players in order to field the best roster possible.

As of now, Carl “enigma” Yangsheng, Yomar ”milo” Toledo, Matthew ”clockwork” Dias, and Seb ”numlocked” Barton will remain active on the main roster while NRG searches for potential replacements. Though they are not definitively cut from the team, several parties are reluctant to continue playing for the organization after hearing the news.

NRG originally acquired an Overwatch roster by purchasing the team from Luminosity Gaming. On that team were Mark ”Pookz” Rendon and Daniel ”GODS” Graeser, who are currently free agents. While the roster was once considered a top-three team in North America, the team has fallen from grace, failing to escape the group stage of OGN APEX Season 1. In the wake of their failure to qualify for the Winter Premiere group stage, NRG will be attempting to find a solution to their struggles.

As it stands, the current NRG roster is:

  • Brandon “Seagull” Larned (DPS)
  • Matthew ”clockwork” Dias (DPS)
  • Carl ”enigma” Yangsheng (Flex)
  • Seb ”numlocked” Barton (Tank)
  • Tim ”dummy” Olson (Support)
  • Yomar ”milo” Toledo (Support)

However, the roster is likely to face changes in the upcoming weeks, as the only locked positions are currently Seagull’s and dummy’s. As the Winter Premiere progresses, members of NRG that are not locked in might begin to trial for other rosters.

Update: I have been informed that Seb "numlocked" Barton will retain his position on the team as well. That leaves clockwork, enigma, and milo's positions uncertain.

Nothing against the other guys at all, but good to see they are keeping Dummy. His Ana play is on point.

Why is Dummy locked a position, but Enigma is not? Enigma is clear one of the two best players in the team, and he is much better than Dummy.

While I won't claim to be able to judge their relative skill levels, I also hope that Enigma stays on NRG.

you cant really compare their skill when they play different roles, especially when dummy's role is so much more important on ana

ana is not more important than a dps/flex player at the top levels as it doesn't matter how much you heal if the opposing team doesn't die

they're at the very least equally important

The only one that kinda surprises me is enigma but you can make an argument against him. I feel so bad watching this team falling apart because all of these guys are my heros from tf2 but if I'm being honest with myself this is probably the best choice. I dunno how practice is going but from what I've seen there really not making it work and maybe new blood will get them going. Besides that I wish everybody on NRG the best of luck!

are there even players available up to caliber to replace enigma/clockwork/milo that will get them to where they want to be?

Blueare there even players available up to caliber to replace enigma/clockwork/milo that will get them to where they want to be?

I always wanted liquid to disband so they could sneak Rapha and MESR off them. If we're talking realistically here they could pick up morte and switch dummy to lucio to focus on his calling (unless morte played lucio I haven't seen reunited in a while). For main tank they could try and see what krawnic is up to. One recommendation would be to switch seagull to a full time flex tank because he feels comfortable on that right now and put twoeasy in their. Honestly if clock could figure it out he's not a bad 76 so as long as you get a decent hog and he learned something like dva for now and wait till she gets nerfed he might be able to stick around. Just one idea off the top of my head.

From what I've heard, Enigma is also one of the main voices on the team, aside from Numlocked. I think Seagull mentioned it in an interview but I can't find it atm

someone mentioned iddqd earlier, and also with TwoEasy having left FaZe and Skipjack departing ways with Rogue, there are certainly opportunities for others that can open up

Koncept Skipjack departing ways with Rogue,

Oh I didn't hear about this, that's a perfect pickup!

#11 They spoke about it in the interview with Dummy and again in the interview with Dummy and Numlocked. Basically Numlocked is the shot caller for the team fights and Enigmas was doing the rest of the shot calling. Taking care of the big picture with ult management/tracking.

Not sure this is news at this point.

edit: I don't mean because 'everyone knows'. I mean that without quotes it isn't much above gossip.

The reason the sources are anonymous is because I don't want to put them in compromising situations. This is standard practice in journalism.

Yeah but it's standard practice to not write the story until there's a story to write, with quotes. You can use "a source close to the team" if necessary, it's better than nothing.

Hopefully they keep Enigma too, he's always been a flexible player who also plays a solid Tracer on KOTH for them.

I also like how people are talking about iddqd, skip, even 2easy as potential pickups but nobody is talking about Talespin, lol. Dude is washed up.

To be fair, Mickie's addition to EnVyUs after Talespin left seemed to make the team environment better for all of them

Replacing Clockwork and Milo would seem like decent choices. Mainly because I feel like Clockwork has been underperforming/inconsistent and Milo does not seem to cut it either given his roles. IDDQD would be an amazing pickup. No idea who would be good to replace Milo with.

basically probation + hope they let the ana/d.va nerf patch roll out first. i really want these guys to succeed, maybe a non tank meta would help.
