I feel as if he will need a nerf. I made a post about possible ideas for that here: http://us.battle.net/forums/en/overwatch/topic/19876317450

Would appreciate feedback.

Right now he plays as a better Tracer with a more viable long range poke and vertical dash. It's fun playing as him but very not fun dealing with him. I think a general consensus is that he is just a bit too good, so I propose the following:

A) Keep all abilities and stats as is with the exception of lowering his base health to 125. Since he can do Tracer's harass and "keep away" role better with the added ability to block and reflect most damage, this makes the most sense to me. His ability to counter and escape would pair well if he were more "squishy." With this build, ulting should overheal him back to ~200.

B) Lower base health to 150 and add fall off damage to counter his ability to harass from such a long way away. He keeps his awesome movement (which makes him most fun and most annoying) but he is forced to use that movement to get him in and out of his "effective" zone. Putting him more at risk if he wants to be most effective.

C) Do nothing, wait for teams to find a better composition to deal with. He is just a few days old in the beta, so I recognize the possibility that teams simply havent found his best counter yet. I doubt this, but it's a possibility.

I think it's too early to say he is broken. But I can say that both of your nerf ideas would make him completely unplayable, especially the first one. At 125 hp you get one shot by everything in the game. If he does prove to be OP, either part of your second nerf idea might work, depending if you want him to be more of a long or close range hero.

One thing I've learned from playing dota is that the smallest nerfs can make large changes, especially in a game with a large character pool. There are going to be other characters that can perform the same job, and even a moderate nerf can push characters into obscurity. This will become more relevant as more heroes are added to the game.

(in response to C) its important to consider that if u want a good game it needs to be enjoyable outside of the best players playing optimal strategies. atm it feels like good players dominate in pubs on him. 1v1s never really feel enjoyable against him.

imo he doesn't need the dot and there needs to be a standardized falloff damage system for classes not meant to do that stuff.

i think his ability 1 should just not be able to slash vertically, only horizontally. hero fixed. even though he can wall climb, he won't be able to make it to stupid places in an instant.

Really hope they don't patch this. Looks really helpful and definitely adds depth to the game.

Genji already has enough movement options, if this stays in the game no other character will be able to keep up with him. Very few characters can even keep up with him in the first place

It looks really cool and really gives depth, but Genji is already getting fame for being a SoloQ hero, his kit seems pretty complete and this doesn't look intentional at all.

I'm 90% sure they will bugfix this.

there are enough options in the game to deal with him (zarya, winston, mei, tracer, etc.) right now that I don't really think he's overpowered at all. when you see a rampaging genji, you have to also examine the supporting cast and more often than not he'll be buffed by zenyatta/symettra/zarya.

he's also one of the few (only?) direct counters to widowmaker after the mccree nerf.

The only thing I don't really like on the hero is the power of the shurikens. Everything else seems fine to me.

I know he probably has to have a ranged ability of some sort, but maybe the damage on them needs to be toned down slightly..?

in the end dva and him probably shouldnt be able to fuck with ults

the blocking melee damage thing was something i wasnt sure about since i thought i did do damage to him sometimes. as it stands you cant punish him if he gets in your face and uses it point blank on a lot of heroes (which i find lame)

would limiting deflect to basic attacks be too much, if so whats else would need to be non-deflectable, besides ults

My opinions have changed. With a coordinated team Genji is less annoying, additionally so because in scrim/serious match-making you wont usually be up against a team with multiple Genji's. It's still annoying in pubs when there's 2 or more but that isn't the metric. I do think falloff should be applied, but less so than as was done to McCree.

I think it's fine to reflect ults. I do think he's slightly overtuned but mostly in much smaller manners than most people who beg for nerfs are asking -- I think reducing his shuriken clip size to something like 21 shurikens and adding a small amount of falloff would be the best.

Honestly its fairly easy to trap him in small chokes on flank and kill him that way. Also, tanks kill him easily.
