After six weeks of round robin action, the top teams from Europe and North America will converge in Burbank, California for the Contenders Season 1 LAN Finals. Four teams from each side of the Atlantic will compete in their own regional single-elimination tournaments, with the champions receiving the biggest share of their region's $100,000 prize pool.

As the weekend approaches, we've compiled a viewer's guide to give a detailed briefing of the LAN playoffs.

Teams Qualified

Europe

  1. Misfits
  2. Team Gigantti
  3. 123
  4. Cloud9 EU

North America

  1. EnVyUs
  2. FaZe Clan
  3. EnVision eSports
  4. FNRGFE

Format

The LAN finals will utilize Patch 1.14, so that the tournament avoids a meta shift from Patch 1.15, which introduced a reworked D.Va and Mercy. As for the bracket, the semifinals will be played in a best-of-five series, while the grand finals are an endurance testing best-of-seven series.

In a similar fashion to APEX the modes for each map will bet set in the following order:

Control, Hybrid, Assault, Escort, Control

The mappool itself will be altered from the Regular Season too:

  • Control: Oasis, Ilios
  • Hybrid: Hollywood, Eichenwalde, Numbani
  • Assault: Temple of Anubis, Volskaya Industries
  • Escort: Watchpoint: Gibraltar, Route 66

Although no cross-continental is present, an all-star EU vs. NA team deathmatch showmatch featuring community-voted rosters is set to take place during the event.
