CLG picks up The 1 Percent live at MLG Vegas

Counter Logic Gaming just announced their arrival to Overwatch live on stage at MLG Vegas. Best known for their professional League of Legends teams and founded by HotshotGG, CLG have been rumoured to be on the hunt for an Overwatch roster for several months. Today we learn that The 1 Percent is that roster.

Counter Logic Gaming are big players in North American esports and part of the Professional eSports Association along with Team Solomid, Cloud9, Team Liquid, Immortals, NRG eSports and compLexity Gaming. In the context of Overwatch's esports aspirations and with Blizzard's own Overwatch League set to begin the bidding process for city franchises in 2017 this announcement, live on stage at a Blizzard event, should be seen as a firm endorsement.

Very much a team with big potential as opposed to big scalps, The 1 Percent's most significant result in recent times has been taking down H2K Gaming at the DHW NA Qualifiers in October. Currently ranked at #25 in GosuGamers North American rankings, this new roster will have to work hard to try to make a name for themselves amongst a cutthroat field of Tier 2 teams.

The 1 Percent are now Counter Logic Gaming

Their in-game leader, Mikado, had this to say in the announcement:

"Our roster is the most dedicated group of players I've ever worked with and I take pride in the fact that despite having full-time students and jobs that we stayed as a solid six-man roster and play at the highest level. Having the entire roster sign with CLG is the realization of a dream I've had since playing in the closed beta and a testament that commitment and hard-work pay off."

The Counter Logic Gaming roster is:

  • Bryan "iShiny" McCarthy (Tank)
  • Nathan "Miso" Lui (Flex)
  • Daniel "Mikado" Yamilkoski (Support)
  • Joao Pedro "Hydration" Goes Telles (DPS)
  • Adam "waffletastic" Sydnor (DPS)
  • Michael "The" Kuhns (Support)

The intro they had on stage was crazy bad. What was the point of building it up like that?

All I can say is I hope they make the most of it when Bird Noises, Kungarna, Spicy Boys, and Citizen 7 are still not sponsored.

Picking Kungarna would be bad PR,

Bird noises is no more. They splitted up like week ago,

Citizen7 no clue, doubt theyre good enough atm

Complexity is sponsored and they have two ex-hackers?

I can't really say about Bird Noises except for that when their last iteration was alive they had plenty of results.

Citizen 7 is certainly good enough. So are Spicy Boys.

Regardless that doesn't detract from the fact that they got the sponsorship and I wish them the best. Hope they get the big wins.

Uhhhh no. The TJO duo had legitimate CEVO cheating bans if you looked it up. Babybay was ESEA banned not VAC'd.

I'm assuming this means TSM is waiting to build a roster when their league spot is secured.
