Those inquisitive people checking out Contenders team pages this week will have been surprised when visiting Cloud 9 EU's team page. A vastly different roster composed of a mix of NA and EU players has been declared for Contenders Season One Week 2, few of which were on last week's roster.

Now at the DPS role are sinatraa and fischer, with Nevix being moved to sub. mowzassa remains at tank, but will now have ARC 6’s SPACE flexing and off-tanking alongside him. Greyy remains as flex support, but neptuNo is now the Lucio alongside him. Americans zombs and silkthread are now on the C9 bench.

The drastic changes have been made following the team's 4-0 defeat to Misfits last week. Just how long-lasting these moves are is unclear, however. Kyb, CrusaDe, and crems are not present anywhere on the roster, but that may just be because Contenders limits rosters to nine players. It is equally unclear whether the new additions are signed, trials, or simply temporary fill-ins. With changes like these being made after just one Contenders game, and news of Cloud 9 going to Korean forums to look for Overwatch League players, it is looking less and less likely that C9 will be using the Laser Kittenz roster for the Overwatch League.

Cloud 9 declined to comment when reached out to for this story.
