Finnish flex tank player zappis has joined the Florida Mayhem. zappis is both the first player to be added to what was originally the Misfits roster as well as the first pickup officially announced for the midseason signing period.

As the smallest roster in the Overwatch League, the Mayhem were expected to make some moves when the signing period opened. The team was previously restricted to using a singular lineup as they fielded just six players, the League minimum. This limited roster has led to little success for the franchise, as the team currently sits at 11th in the standings with a 1-6 record and 7-21 map record.

With this signing, five of the six members of Team Gigantti's 2017 Contenders Season One roster are now on Overwatch League teams. The team's Tracer specialist, Davin, is the only one left not playing at the Blizzard Arena in Los Angeles.

In a news post on the Florida Mayhem website that has since been taken down, it was stated that zappis will join the team in Stage 2. Whether this will be the case for all midseason signings made over the next week remains to be seen.

The Florida Mayhem play their next match February 2 at 7 PM EST against the San Francisco Shock, however zappis won't make his Overwatch League debut until February 22 when the Mayhem play the New York Excelsior.

The Florida Mayhem roster is now:

  • Kevyn "TviQ" Lindström (DPS)
  • Andreas "Logix" Berghmans (DPS)
  • Tim "Manneten" Bylund (Flex)
  • Joonas "zappis" Alakurtti (Flex)

  • Sebastian "Zebbosai" Olsson (Support)
  • Aleksi "Zuppeh" Kuntsi (Support)
  • Vytis "Mineral" Lasaitis (Head Coach)
