Late last week, Bazooka Puppiez announced on Twitter that Swedish support player klanton would be stepping down from their roster. Killing two birds with one stone, the team announced in the same Tweet that former Method and You Guys Get Paid? support would be replacing him on the active roster.

klanton specified on Twitter that after recently beginning to work full-time, a result of playing without salary for six months, and recently getting into university, he was unsure if he had the time to dedicate himself to playing Overwatch at the professional level. Bazooka Puppiez are unsigned despite their strong performance in Contenders Season Zero Europe, which saw them make it to the semifinal before being knocked out by another strong unsigned team, 123.

While PsychoWaffle's quest to get paid isn't over yet, he finds himself another step closer. Bazooka Puppiez are locked into Contenders Season 1 and have shown themselves capable of competing with Europe's established top teams. This makes them an ideal pickup for any organization wishing to get into Overwatch but unwilling to pay the massive prices for an Overwatch League spot.

For those ranking teams by flag rarity, PsychoWaffle's American flag in the European scene is certainly an upgrade to the more common Swedish flag. For those ranking teams by performance around a payload or a control point, it remains to be seen how this player swap will affect the team. Audiences don't have to wait long to find out, thankfully, as the scheduled start of Contenders Season 1 is now less than a week away.

The Bazooka Puppiez are now gunning with:

  • Artem "kensi" Budiak (DPS)
  • Toni "Ube" Häkli (Flex)
  • Metehan "Mete" Aksüt (Flex)
  • Mihail Cristian "Meza" Păunecu (Tank)
  • Ruben "Rubikon" Zurabyan (Support)
  • Jacob "PsychoWaffle" Oyer (Support)
  • Kiryl "Anak" Nikalayenka (Substitute)
