Ninjas in Pyjamas, the organisation famous for their fan-favourite Counter-Strike teams, has branched out into Overwatch by signing SG-1. The team, which will now play as NiP, has been a solid tier two team for months but has yet to break into the upper echelons.

This announcements follows the team's recent roster move as they brought back kyynel. The fully Finnish roster is currently ranked 7th in Europe, and was the highest ranked team without an organisation since the signing of LG yesterday.

Hicham Chahine, NiP CEO, stated in the official announcement:

We have over the past eight months been focusing on developing the organizational aspect of Ninjas in Pyjamas in order to be properly set for further growth, which includes expansion across multiple game titles. We are therefore pleased to announce our entry into an exciting new game with a very interesting team of highly skilled individuals from the Nordic region. The Ninjas in Pyjamas legacy is about being at the top of every game we compete in and there is no exception as we enter into Overwatch: Our goal is become a top team during 2016. Together we will be writing a new chapter in the history of Ninjas in Pyjamas. We are excited!

While Mafu said:

On behalf of the whole team, which used to be called SG-1, I want to thank NiP for this huge opportunity. We couldn't dream for a better organization to back us up on our jorney to be the best Overwatch team in the world.

SG-1 play later today in the latter stage of the ESL Atlantic Showdown European Final Qualifier, where they must beat Melty and then Rogue to be invited to the $100,000 tournament at Gamescom. A plethora of new fans will now be cheering them on as they aim to represent NiP at LAN in Cologne.
