As another chapter came to an end for the mixup-turned-LG-turned-mixup roster, so another one begins today as they sign on the dotted line with Shaq's NRG Esports. The deal ends 10 days of rampant speculation since NRG's outspoken co-owner first invited them to "come on ova" in a Tweet that set the Overwatch scene on fire.

NRG welcome enigma, Seagull, Gods, milo, Pookz and dummy

Today's move also confirms the fate of former Team Liquid flex Tim "dummy" Olson, who now official joins the team having been playing support with Seagull & Co. in recent days since stepping down as a Liquid starter amidst their recent roster changes. It is worth noting that dummy had not officially been released by Team Liquid at that point which may mean a buyout was required from NRG, although no details have emerged as of yet.

Speculation aside, that would be a small price to pay to secure North America's #4 roster and Overwatch's #1 streamer, Brandon "Seagull" Larned. Capturing one of Twitch's rising stars may have been weighing heavy on the minds of NRG's management during negotiations – a quick scroll down the their Twitter feed reads like a love letter to Seattle's strawberry-blonde stream god – but the squad will surely be focused more on making their dreams of attending offline Overwatch competitions a reality.

Speaking in the official announcement Seagull offered the following:

"We’re very excited to have the opportunity to play for NRG Esports. After receiving offers from many different organizations, we felt that NRG was the best fit for us in order to build a long term relationship in Overwatch. We can’t wait to see how the competitive scene develops in Overwatch and we know we’ll have all the support we need under NRG."

Fans will be hopeful that they can finally cheer for their boys at upcoming offline events after they missed the opportunity to compete at Agents Rising under Luminosity. The LANdscape has changed significantly since the May launch week with six figure extravaganzas now the benchmark and this NRG roster are expected to qualify for both ESL's Atlantic Showdown and ELEAGUE and FACEIT's Overwatch Open. You can catch them right now on twitch.tv/esl_overwatch battling for a spot at Gamescom.

The NRG Esports roster is:

  • Brandon "Seagull" Larned (DPS)
  • Daniel "Gods" Graeser (DPS)
  • Carl "enigma" Yangsheng (Flex)
  • Yomar "milo" Toledo (Tank)
  • Mark "Pookz" Rendon (Support)
  • Tim "dummy" Olson (Support)
