After a grueling three months that saw the best teams in the world duke it out in the most competitive region, APEX's second season has finally come to a close. We witnessed numerous storylines clash throughout the entire ordeal: west vs east, uncrowned kings, lovable underdogs, the effect of Korean fangirls, and much more. With the tournament's conclusion, the final standings are as follows:

  • 1st Lunatic-Hai - $85,000
  • 2nd RunAway - $35,000
  • 3rd LuxuryWatch Blue - $15,000
  • 4th Meta Athena - $12,000
  • 5th Kongdoo Panthera - $8,000
  • 5th Kongdoo Uncia - $8,000
  • 7th Team EnVyUs - $6,000
  • 7th Afreeca Freecs Blue - $6,000

The final saw the perpetual runners up of Lunatic-Hai tested by the surprising might of underdogs RunAway. In what was an amazing series, Lunatic-Hai fought back from a 3-1 deficit to secure their first ever top finish at a major event (discounting BlizzCon of course), as well as $85,000 to split amongst the players. RunAway's performance was no joke either, and the team hopes to secure a sponsorship with their result.

LuxuryWatch Blue secured an extra $3,000 by winning the third place match against Meta Athena, and the Kongdoo sister teams, Team EnVyUs, and Afreeca Freecs Blue managed to take home smaller prizes as a result of qualifying for playoffs. Notably, Team EnVyUs was the only western team to qualify for the playoffs of APEX despite four actually attending the tournament.

Also notable were the results of Group B's top finishers; perhaps Misfits should be cut some slack given their groupmates Lunatic-Hai and LuxuryWatch Blue finished in 1st and 3rd respectively.

The final match between Lunatic-Hai and RunAway marks MonteCristo and DoA's final OGN cast after their recent announcement. However, the league will almost certainly continue this summer, along with a new English cast from OGN.

Of course, congratulations to the winners of Lunatic-Hai—they are uncrowned kings no longer!
