Rivalcade announced an upcoming tournament slated for April 22 and 23 earlier today featuring an exciting list of teams in their lineup. While it will add to the long list of online North American tournaments, it promises to excite more than prior ones given their notable attendees.

Though they normally spurn online events for the prominent LAN tournaments, Team EnVyUs returns to prove that they are still the cream of the crop in North America despite their long stay in Korea. Looking to challenge their crown are Rogue and Selfless, two teams that dominated the rest of North America in Team EnVyUs's absence.

Cloud9 will also make their return to competitive play, but this time will be exploring a new, unrevealed roster. LG Evil and Immortals will round out the competition from the top of the North American scene, while compLexity Gaming and Splyce will join in as invited teams despite their recent struggles.

Open qualifiers for the tournament will occur on April 18, where a top 8 will be curated and added to the tournament. The sixteen teams in total will form the field for the tournament, and presumably there will be groups of four teams each for the round robin pools section of the tournament.

Following the round robin pools, the playoffs will feature a double elimination bracket to culminate in the grand prize of $6,000. The prize pool itself is $10,000, matching other similar online tournaments such as the Overwatch Monthly Melee. The money will be broken down as follows:

  • 1st: $6,000
  • 2nd: $3,000
  • 3rd: $1,000

Additionally, qualifiers for the tournament feature a $500 prize pool, split as such:

  • 1st: $300
  • 2nd: $120
  • 3rd: $80

Of course, the main prize is certainly qualifying for the tournament for uninvited teams and competing against some of the most notable teams from the west.
