Over $1 million in prize money has been awarded since Blizzard's Overwatch was released just five months ago. According to esportsearnings.com, APAC Premier's $192,000 prize-pool pushed earnings over the top with a grand total of $1.1 million.

This comes at the conclusion of three six-figure events including Overwatch's first major, the ESL Atlantic Showdown and it's American television debut on TBS with the $300,000 Overwatch Open.

Now in its second season of ranked matchmaking, Overwatch has seen explosive growth. According to a report by IGN, Overwatch has already surpassed 20 million global players - up five million in just two months.

The highest earning team in the fledgling esport is Rogue, who claimed championships at ESL and APAC. They are trailed by Overwatch Open champions Misfits.
