The End of Clockwork Vendetta— Clockwork Vendetta (@ClockVendetta) April 16, 2020
An inability to keep a stable roster caused in part by players leaving the scene contributed to their disbandment. Clockwork Vendetta said the following in a Twitlonger:
With that said, there have been several changes throughout the years and many different events that has led to our eventual resignation. With the release of Valorant, we have lost a good majority of the roster we have been working on for so long, undoing several months of painstaking work, mostly at the cost of our coaches and manager who have to scout and develop team synergy time and time again with little to no financial compensation.
Despite our results looking promising, we still lack the roster and funding to continue working as we had intended. The current state of people leaving Overwatch has also made it incredibly hard for us to find eligible players to work with, and we feel like the uncertainty of the future has led us to resigning as a team and withdrawing from competition going forward.
Clockwork Vendetta first emerged in the European scene after coming out of Open Division and winning Contenders Trials 2019 Season 2. They were known for running an unusual team composition counter to the meta.
They then finished second in the regular season of their first Contenders season and finished in the top four overall.
Clockwork Vendetta's roster began to drastically change around the end of 2019 and beginning of 2020. Their roster continued to change as they began the 2020 season.
The only remaining member of the team from their original roster was Munkmutta .
They competed in both Contenders weeks and both Trials weeks that have occurred this season. They would have competed in the next week of Trials had they remained in competition.
