Second Wind Second Wind Contenders NA Rank #4 have announced that DPS player ellie has left the roster following threats of doxxing and harassment. It has since been revealed ellie's identity was fabricated.
Unfortunately, due to some unforeseen reactions, Ellie has opted to step down from the team. We hope you continue to support her in her ventures in Overwatch as we will— Second Wind (@SecondWindGG) January 2, 2019
Their departure comes during the team’s run in Contenders Season 3 North America, where they recently finished first in their round robin group and have qualified for the playoffs.
Since ellie's release, it has been revealed that their identity was not real. While Second Wind did not confirm the true identity of ellie in their statement, several -- including reporter Rod "Slasher" Breslau and Cloud 9 streamer Aspen -- have alleged the ellie account is actually owned by Punisher. Punisher is a male top 500 player who has not competed in Contenders before. He has not publicly confirmed he was ellie.

In their statement, Second Wind claimed to be unaware of ellie's true identity until after the player had already stepped down from the roster.
A Unikrn article reported the paperwork to add ellie to the roster was never completed and was therefore unable to compete in any matches in their short time with the team. Second Wind stated in their Twitlonger that they reached out to Blizzard to verify ellie's identity.
