GO RUNAWAY YOU GOT THIS

posted about 6 years ago

It's been a journey for that 1 Percent squad.

I remember back during the OW Open, I saw the 1 Percent Squad play during the qualifiers, and they weren't very good back then. I said to myself, these guys will never make it.

Never been so wrong. I thought they made quite a statement. Maybe not so much as a team, but there were some very special players (HYDRATIONNNNNN) that definitely got good attention.

Hydration and Shake to NRG plz

I can't imagine that Seagull would be on a team where he isn't on the starting roster.

The logo is just amazing

Also the design of the C9 Kongdoo logo is just a straight up PogChamp

posted about 6 years ago

Ah i see. So it's more of a brand joining rather than just C9 picking them up.

I'd like the team to be called London Panthers at this point. Also, my preferred starting roster would be:

Rascal
Birdring
Mowsazza
Void
Neptuno
Greyy

This is great, but I hope they don't completely replace the current EU roster, I think a mix of the two would be nice.
Also, the name of the actual team during OWL won't be "C9 Kongdoo", right? Because that would be....weird.

I want Coolmatt starting for a team, not subbing.

As long as the philly team is called the Philadelphia Cheese Steaks, the OWL will succeed.

Hmmmmmmm so truly starting in the new year. A bit of a wait but it'll be worth it. And there will be 12 teams. I think it's a good starting number to build off of. I also enjoy the idea of a preseason. Gives us a chance that get a look at the teams.

I'm done debating this with you. If you have a problem with the current scene, then don't watch it. If you're even slightly willing to be patient and let the OWL actually start, then listen to what Sideshow said and wait a year. If you feel there's still a problem with the scene, come on back and prove me wrong.

And that's not to say that there won't be an extra scene. Contenders will be there for tier-2 EU/NA teams. Same goes for APEX, the Premiere Series, etc. And then below that is the Open division and all the amateur leagues, building up new generations of players that will one day climb their way into the Overwatch League. It's a whole ecosystem.

You're not understanding the purpose of the future of Overwatch eSports. It's not going to be like CSGO, or Dota, or LoL. It's going to be new, and different, and exciting, because nothing in eSports has ever been done like this before. There's not going to be so many LANs with freely organized teams, because the only true goal for any aspiring Overwatch player is going to be the OWL, which is a Blizzard-run LEAGUE for the very best of the elite. Overwatch is never going to be like it was in 2016, the whole point is that it's changing that classic eSports format: season here, tournament there, LAN there, championship here, etc. We're not abandoning our eSports roots, we're growing them.

Let's start with your outward hatred for all of the current tournaments, because you don't find them "entertaining." In the past couple months, we've had OGN Apex (the premier level of Korean competition), the Pacific Championship (a great showcase for Pacific teams such as Blank or Flash wolves, most recently Ardeont), the Premiere Series (china's leading tournament), Overwatch Contenders (the main, current battleground for EU and NA players hoping to attract possible contracts to get them into the OWL), the World Cup (which has been absolutely spectacular) plus several smaller circuits around Finland, Japan, and South America. If you don't find them entertaining, then you don't have to watch them. They're not meant to be Overwatch's biggest showcase, that's what the OWL is for. All of these tournaments are for players and teams to prove themselves to hopefully get spots in the OWL. A large majority of the games that have taken place have showcased high level play in a very competitive setting, even if a large amount of Contenders is online. We don't think it's "top tier entertainment", that's not what we are watching it for. We here at over.gg love playing and watching Overwatch, and we're watching these "trash tournaments" because we care about the players, their futures, and the progression of the scene in general. If you have some sort of problem with the current Overwatch ecosystem, then stop watching. No one wants you to force your personal negativity down our throats. If this is so incredibly hard for you to understand, then you can go fuck yourself instead of complaining like a nonsensical and misinformed baby.

There's no one more deserving to go to OWL than GC Busan

I honestly think LTJ should be removed from the starting roster. He's an extremely good ladder player, but doesn't seem to play as well in a team environment. I constantly see him going out on his own trying to carry, but ends up losing his team the fight.
