Apparently Kongdoo will be playing under the C9 brand for OWL. If anybody could provide a translation for the article it would be much appreciated.

EDIT: Nevermind, here is the C9 announcement https://twitter.com/Cloud9/status/910735323738513408

Damn this is looking real good. Wonder which spot they'll be representing.

The tweet is translated into as follows:

"KongDoo Panthera and Cloud9 has met together with a new name 'Cloud9 KONGDOO'. Cloud9 will be a naming sponsor to provide full support for KongDoo Panthera players."

The only difference between announcements made by KongDoo and C9 is that KongDoo refers C9 as their naming sponsor but C9 uses the expression 'acquisition' of the KongDoo Panthera roster.

As usual, thanks for the translation. Big difference between a name sponsor and acquirer (?) though, maybe just miscommunication ?

Reading the full C9 announcement it looks like they actually acquired KDP, renamed them to C9 KongDoo, and will move the squad to London after Apex S4.

This is big. KDP is a monster of a team, but I'm also not sure where this leave their current C9 EU roster. Void, Birdring and Rascal are, imo, the best players on that squad with Fissure also being very competent...so would the plan be to just use the Koreans as the OWL team or would they be subbing in some of the EU boys? MikeyA, Nevix and Space are, again imo, straight up outclassed man to man while Neptuno, Grey and Mowzassa can hold their own or be arguably stronger than their Korean counterparts.

What do you guys think the plan is for this soon to be 12 man roster?

Edit: I also just realized that as far as I know they still have Bishop...if they do make use of him he would have come back full circle, working with a KongDoo team again!

I guess they only acquired part of it technically, since Uncia still is KongDoo's squad. But it's vague as to how to specify the situation.

Some people are confused by this as well, so maybe clarification will ensue in the coming hours or days.

Woah woah woah woah woah, is C9 Kongdoo the OWL brand?????? if so...that is fucking sick. This is awesome. I hope they still field the EU team for non-OWL events though.

Not the OWL brand per sé, just that the KDP squad will have C9 in its name from now on. As for the OWL name, it better be the London Panthers, obvious but good.

This is great, but I hope they don't completely replace the current EU roster, I think a mix of the two would be nice.
Also, the name of the actual team during OWL won't be "C9 Kongdoo", right? Because that would be....weird.

The name can't be, the team names have to be independent of the company, i.e. C9 was having a contest to name their team.

i think there is no point of mixing 2 of them, because KDP would lose their firepower.

This renders the LK / C9 EU pickup mostly useless. I'm really confused by this whole move.
Where does that leave the EU team?
Are they stuck in contract/buy-out hell after hoping for OWL?
Are they forever relegated to play Contenders?
Is C9 hoping to develop the EU players alongside the Korean ones then get another OWL slot next season for them to have a team of their own?
Too many questions, no answers, all speculation.

Ah i see. So it's more of a brand joining rather than just C9 picking them up.

I'd like the team to be called London Panthers at this point. Also, my preferred starting roster would be:

Rascal
Birdring
Mowsazza
Void
Neptuno
Greyy

Don't you agree it could be a close call between Bdosin and Neptuno/Greyy? I think Bdosin might have an edge over the two. Although Neptuno is the Lucio player so I'd think It'd be a Bdosin in, Greyy out.

I agree Mowzassa is one of the best tanks, but I think Fissure is better at this point. Fissure was already a really good tank, but it seems like he has improved yet again this season.
Also, I feel like Wakawaka is not getting enough praises he deserves. He hardly ever gets picked even when the opponent DPS flanks specifically to target him. Also, he's so good at putting in damages as he has good aims by playing DPS in the past. KDP wouldn't be able to play so aggressively if he hadn't stayed alive all the time to constantly heal up the team.
Bdosin, on the other hand, is slightly overrated imo. He comes up with a lot of flashy plays as Zenyatta by playing aggressively, but by doing so, he gets exposed to dangerous situations often. I think as a support player, it is more important to avoid getting picked than getting picks, especially when you are in a team like KDP where everybody plays so aggressively. With such play style, everybody will fall once the supports fall. So I think Greyy is probably better support than Bdosin unless he changes up his style.
However, as a team, I am not sure mixing up the roasters will necessarily work out better for them since communication between the supports and the rest of the team is so important. Because of this, I am not quite sure whether C9 was the best place for KDP to land when C9 already has a decent roaster.

Judging from the tweets of some of the C9 guys it looks like the KDP squad will be C9's OWL team. Neptuno is LFT and Mowzassa looked like he got blindsided.

Not sure what's actually going on here.

Yeah, I just saw that too. I feel like that was unavoidable since I could not see any possible way of mixing up two roasters as I said above, and I think the C9 EU roaster is too good to stay as sub. I feel bad for C9 EU players for having to look for another team, but I am sure most of them (especially NeptuNo, Mowzassa, and Greyy) will find another OWL team to join.

I agree with this. Fissure is one of the best tanks in South Korea. Mowzassa is good but it's a no brainer for Winston. Haven't seen much of his Rein though.

Also, if Greyy can put in the hours to learn Korean, I don't see why not. Never seen anybody from the West getting picked up by a full korean squad. But on every other role, KDP has the better players (Void and SPACE is debatable imo).

FeelsBadMan for Nevix, he finally got a spot where he could shine, and he did better than I thought he would. But there's no competing against Rascal. The KDP DPS duo is the best in the world in terms of flexibility and effectiveness imo. Since it's clear that they won't be going to LH I really hope that Lunatic does end up upgrading their DPS core. Maybe Sayaplayer/Libedro? They need some new life after getting bodied by GC Busan, not to take anything away from the upstarts.

For sure.
Libero/Saya would be awesome. Arhan or Fleta instead of Saya might also be great. I feel like Libero/Arhan or Libero/Fleta allows more flexibility. Or Libero with any great Tracer player might also work since Libero is not that great on Tracer imo. I mean he is good on Tracer as well, just not as good as top Tracers like Stitch, Nenne, Profit, and Bunny.
Personally, I really hope to see Libero and Fleta getting picked up by Team Seoul.
