Being a pro is more than just in game skills, and those we're not certain of anyway given - as you said - he didn't have a chance to prove himself to the degree that we are holding him up to.
And that is why you shouldn't assume such extremes too.
EDIT: Also - remember how many people knew of GC Busan, NC Foxes or LW Red a few months back? Not a lot of people - now they are top teams of APEX with some of their players being thought of as one of the most proficient at their roles - and nobody knew of them sometime ago. Don't ever make assumptions that someone is better than the whole region, especially if the region is known to foster talent day in and day out, in every esport title.

You still didn't answer in what way was I taking mental issues lightly.
Anyhow, the sole purpose of saying "the money alone" is that there is more besides the money, he can get a sports psych, he can get all the help he needs and a massive salary for at least sitting on the sub spot.
He is still playing Overwatch as seen by this reddit thread then what's the issue with playing better quality games in which you don't need to tilt, all the while you're getting help? (Besides having to move away from what he knows and who he knows - if he's close with friends/family but that's not known - and live in a foreign country, those are the reasons I can 100% understand)

Ah nevermind you're the guy that said this

honestly, he's probably better than any Korean, including Birdring

I am sorry I can't take you seriously anymore.

posted about 6 years ago

Ofcourse he doesn't have to disclose it what it is and give me the papers, frankly I don't give a shit. But at the same time you can't excuse someone of doing something wrong because "oh he has a mental illness".
That is not a justification and making it "ok" doesn't help with the person's recovery.

Clearly, you have no idea what that's like.

Clearly you know everything about me and can make that assumption safely, don't be a twat man.

EDIT: Just now read the edit. You don't have to be a streamer if you don't want to, you don't owe your fans anything, they made the conscious decision to spend their money on you, they can pull it out any second and not support you anymore.
If you say you don't feel well and don't want to stream and they don't understand, what kind of fans are they?
Players and streamers are not monkeys in a circus for your entertainment.
EDIT 2:
Seriously, if you think you can spend 5 dollars a month and expect a person to do your bidding just because of that, you're an entitled asshole and should slap yourself in the face, repeatedly. The streamer does not sign a contract to entertain you whenever you want it for five bucks.

How am I taking mental issues lightly?
Unless he's diagnosed with anything then his behavior is just being a giant dick with no justification - if you don't enjoy competitive/ranked - don't force yourself to play it, don't waste everyone else's time.
Playing in scrims and in tournament matches is a night and day difference.
Also anyone would be silly to pass on an OWL opportunity - even if you hate it it's better than any other job you can have at this age you are at, do it for a while even if you hate it, get paid, get out, you won't get that kind of a salary anywhere else.

EDIT: Also most of his issues were with comp/ranked play that he trolled and was toxic in. Tournament games are different and I doubt they were the core of the issue.

posted about 6 years ago

We may hope he fixes his shit and realizes that at least the money alone is too much to pass on as an opportunity for the future - even if he hates it.
Even if he's gone in a year - he earned his salary and we got to see some amazing plays - it's a win win.

If you'd like to work on your personal play so you'd be able to carry all the other people in your team in case you're playing solo I could watch your vods if you were to record any.
Add me on Discord @ Jade#7295 if you'd want to.

HuK was analyst for OW then did nothihg for about half a year then suddenly gets the task of putting together a team for Boston, you think that's standard?

Yeah, working as a General Manager and doing things behind the scenes is meant to be fully public and a show off to people like you - with a track record of downvoted posts - so they can consider someone worthy or not.

me saying he's a shit player and analyst who never made it as a pro is shitting on him

Jesus christ you realize he was a pro in a different game before and wasn't trying to become one in Overwatch?

What has HuK done this year? afaik everything he done was in 2016.

I guess you're incapable of reading and comprehending text too, god damn it.

Also "picking" a roster and actually being able to sign them and doing all the business work is a different deal than anything you could do as a former coach or player.

posted about 6 years ago

Dude you were the one who whether he was invested in OW from the start or not. I answered your question. You are clearly impervious to reason and inable to have a conversation without being emotional and throwing fits.
I won't continue this conversation any longer if you are to keep being this way.
Also the conversation is pointless if you think a liquipedia paragraph is enough credentials for you to hand over your multi million dollar investement.

posted about 6 years ago

How did he do a great job with Liquid if he joined on June the 2nd and the roster disbanded on Sep 15th due to most of the players leaving for Quake/CS?
Sure they have the 2nd place in contenders S0 but no one knows how much of that is his doing. He did not pick up any talent at that time anyways besides subbing in Fury and we don't know whether it's his doing either.

posted about 6 years ago

Matter of fact he was heavily invested in OW since the release and even before it.
In the beginning of OW HuK was pretty high rated, played scrims with pros at the time.
Was on the National Comittee for OWWC this year, played himself in 2016.
He has worked with Toronto Esports as a General Manager for quite a long time too.
Please get to know the people you are shitting on before you proceed to pull your pants down next time.

EDIT: Please give me your example of at least someone who has done more in Overwatch that is not already affiliated with a team. I am not even going to count the years of experience before OW.

The exact problem with S1 OWL is the fact that people are what you call "friends and family".

posted about 6 years ago

If things were only as simple as you talk about, everyone would do it.

Give me an example of a person who has more experience and could build a better team.

posted about 6 years ago

Hulk did almost nothing at Rogue and was there just because he got laid off nV and was in Korea at the time, there's a reason he jumped into two different teams right after that in a matter of a month.

posted about 6 years ago

You should be more wary of discrediting people that were insiders since OW started and created good content for ages.

I'd pick a person that has over seven years of esport experience working as a pro, on events and as staff, with a lot of connections on top of that.
Whatever the roster is, I am willing to put my chips on the fact that they either got outbid and had to find replacements, or planned to pick up big chunks of rosters but they were too late or the players were picked up as full teams.

NRG Esports has finalized its Overwatch League roster for the soon-to-be-named San Francisco-based team. That roster includes young guns Jay "sinatraa" Won and Matthew "super" DeLisi -- who will be ineligible to compete until after their eighteenth birthdays in the spring -- as well as Daniel "dhaK" Paz, Dante "Danteh" Cruz, André "iddqd" Dahlström, Andrej "babybay" Francisty, Nikola "sleepy" Andrews and David "nomy" Ramirez.

According to Jacob Wolf
What do you guys think about this line up?
For me it's definitely something different than what I expected but I am not disappointed.

EDIT:
It's official.

  1. Whether they're actually competent in picking / managing their team.
So basically Number 4 and then Number 6 when it's all said and done.

Would say C9 EU had my hopes up but then C9 KongDoo happened and now I'm really confused by the move.
I wonder what roster Boston will end up with.
I trust HuK to be competent with his judgement given all of his previous experience in esports, including his progamer days. So I suppose Boston and nV would be the top picks to cheer for at this moment, personally.

posted about 6 years ago

Don't you agree it could be a close call between Bdosin and Neptuno/Greyy? I think Bdosin might have an edge over the two. Although Neptuno is the Lucio player so I'd think It'd be a Bdosin in, Greyy out.

posted about 6 years ago

This renders the LK / C9 EU pickup mostly useless. I'm really confused by this whole move.
Where does that leave the EU team?
Are they stuck in contract/buy-out hell after hoping for OWL?
Are they forever relegated to play Contenders?
Is C9 hoping to develop the EU players alongside the Korean ones then get another OWL slot next season for them to have a team of their own?
Too many questions, no answers, all speculation.

3-2 / 3-1 GC Busan

GC Busan is really impressive.
Individually they are not excessively flashy - but when you look at it - every player does their given job very well while being able to move together as a unit. Their coordination reminds me of Rogue's during their golden days. (the french squad)
