NRG Esports has finalized its Overwatch League roster for the soon-to-be-named San Francisco-based team. That roster includes young guns Jay "sinatraa" Won and Matthew "super" DeLisi -- who will be ineligible to compete until after their eighteenth birthdays in the spring -- as well as Daniel "dhaK" Paz, Dante "Danteh" Cruz, André "iddqd" Dahlström, Andrej "babybay" Francisty, Nikola "sleepy" Andrews and David "nomy" Ramirez.

According to Jacob Wolf
What do you guys think about this line up?
For me it's definitely something different than what I expected but I am not disappointed.

EDIT:
It's official.

Glad Andre is staying. Seems like a solid squad for sure. DPS is nutty. Stoked for Babybay. Solid tanks and supports also.

Nomy AND Super ? IDDQD AND Babybay ? Danteh AND Sinatraa ?
Don't get me wrong, they got some sick players in there, but this seems redundant. If this is like the OpTic leak, I'll wait for it to be official, even though it's highly likely that this will be the roster. Leaks like these are not good imo.

Happy to see Super and dhaK get in. Will be fun watching this squad.

Ok after thought, I think Super will be the starting tank but he'll run Hog and Nomy will sub in. But the other 4 is still a mystery to me, 4 top DPS players though..

I thought they were gonna have a super toxic roster. Turns out it's only Danteh and Sinatraa. Solid line up though, really happy for Nomy and Sleepy.

I'm guessing they'll put in different players depending on which tanks they're going with.

Yea Sin and Danteh can flex tanks as well, since you have 4 DPS players.

seems really stacked at dps especially hitscan and really weak in almost every other way besides Dhak. Maybe Zombs can make up for their weakness in tank category but Nomy's winston was always lackluster and his rein merely passable. Has super ever played anything except Rein?

Who plays genji besides Sinatraa?

danteh, babybay also zombs is not on the roster.super's hog and offtank play is actually pretty good mind you

Edit:wait is zombs on the roster

With all the overlap, is someone going to get dropped when sinatraa is old enough?

#24

I doubt it, the point of having 8 players is so that they don't have to worry about problems with flexibility.

Happy to see zombs on there

Time for Remiska to update his OWL teams thread since this one is now official.

Sinatraa and Super will not be old enough to play until midway through the season, so they needed people to fill in their roles for the time being. As for someone getting dropped when those two are of age, that shouldn't happen because OWL contracts are for one year. All of these players, and anymore should they decide to sign anyone else, will be on their roster for the whole season.

Sinatraa and Super will both be able to play from the start. They'll be old enough by the cutoff date. They couldn't have even been signed otherwise.

Old enough to be signed, but not old enough to play right off the bat. I don't remember the exact cutoff date to be 18, but it's sometime between April and June. However, the season starts in January and it has been stated that players can't participate until they are 18 (or of the age of majority in their country).

I think Babybay will run Genji and Dva, it's what he's been playing lately on stream. Iddqd will be hitscan obviously, Danteh flexing around (I think he plays more Pharah too).
Also #17, Nomy was rolling when he was on IMT, it was triple tank meta but his Rein was a joy. He had consistent visa issues which might've not done him a favour. And Super's monkey is top notch too, idk what you talking about, plus his offtanks are really good too.

Completely agree, on paper the team seems really unbalanced and lacking real star quality for the amount of investment NRG supposedly has.

All focus on popular DPS players is exactly what I expected from NRG. I think they are gonna stay a meme.

Not sure how to feel about this, i'm going to list the point that i disagree with the NRG team making. I think the Roster's a bit overhyped, XQC said they were better then the "current" Rouge, who back then were dominating and they would be the first "Super Roster". I don't see how they can be anywhere near EnvyUs' level, i mean the players on a individual level don't stack up well, and Envy have been a team for much longer, which means they have more Synergies and strategies.

1) Teams without a good flex player have struggled, EUnited, Rouge, RNG, IMT to an extent, ETC. i don't distrust Super's hog or Sinnatra's Zarya, but they passed up on 2 of the best in the region in Coolmatt and Bischu. Dva could make a full 180 and be super meta, like how after her armor got nerfed and she was unplayable, and then korean's found out defense matrix is OP

2) If this team was better then past Rouge, I don't see how Sleepy is anywhere as good as Unkoe (granted i don't know much about him), I mean, they passed up on so many great flex supports as well, Roolf, Custa, Hidan, Dogman, Shake even, it's odd, my only theory is they ran out of money after they spent 150K on Sinnatra. Not to be mean, Sleepy is probably is better then i will ever be.

3) i don't understand why they would pass up on Adam, he's widely considered a great ult tracking lucio, he was provided much success for the old C9, but Dhak is the next best thing i guess.

4) Danteh and Sinnatra have the exact same hero pool. Nuff said

5) Not having a strong projectile player could hurt them in the long run, Hydration would have been great on the team to balance out the dps pool, sure he may not be meta currently but it's still important, also, his Pharah is nutty and Pharah counters Junkrat who's very meta, and Hydration's genji isn't slacking either, i mean, Babybay is a great player, and he's OWL ready for sure, but right now IDDQD just does his job better, and Hydration, maybe even JAKE would be a better choice, and would add much more flexibility

6) Nomy is a great Rein and carried IMT when they were starting out, but he literally got replaced by a korean, sure, Rein's a bit more meta, but still, it's iffy

7) Can't help but think the team will just fall apart, most of Super's and LG evil's success came from the team playing really well about playing really well around Super and his aggressive play style, but now Super is with a 2 support player's he's never played with before, the Synergy just isn't there, unless he's going to play off tank, then that is less of an issue.

Guess we'll have to wait and see how they play, i don't have very high hopes for this roster, but i am willing to be surprised, this roster should not work by any means tho, can't see this roster succeed against the likes of C9 Kungdoo, Envy, or Lunatic Hai (AKA team Seoul), hey, at least it's good to finally know what the roster is.

What do you mean Adam is better than Dhak? lol Dhak is very agreed upon as the best Lucio in the west. Why do you think Selfless was able to do what they did?

#38

I heard Adam's a very good in game leader and he tracks ultimates very well, it's been key in alot of C9's success as well as their clean engages, plus Adam was one of the best Mercys in the very start of overwatch, and since she's starting to become meta again he would be a very good pick up for an OWL team.

https://clips.twitch.tv/RichCarelessShrimpCopyThis
Here's xQc talking about the released NRG roster. They do really lack a flex player but time will tell, they got some crazy good players in there.

Also strongly disagree with points 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7.
