With the new format of the Overwatch Monthly Melee, two teams remain unselected for the main event which will occur later this weekend. This month will see a qualifier for two remaining slots, in which numerous teams will compete for a shot to play in front of the eyes of thousands. The teams participating in the qualifier are as follows:

  • Counter Logic Gaming
  • Denial Esports
  • EnVision Esports
  • Tempo Storm
  • Rockets Esports
  • Gale Force eSports
  • FaZe Clan
  • You Guys Get Paid?
  • East Wind Esports
  • Brasil Gaming House
  • Toronto Esports
  • Rise Nation

The twelve teams competing in the qualifier event will fight in a double elimination bracket, which will determine their eventual group once two teams are left standing. The winner from the upper bracket will go on to face Rogue, LG Evil, and Meta Athena; the lower bracket finalist will compete against Selfless, NRG, and Immortals.

Two of these teams will notably head out to Korea next month according to reports, so the event will serve as a good litmus test. It will additionally help sort out the hectic ranks of North America, as teams like Counter Logic Gaming have mysteriously improved considerably, while others such as FaZe Clan and You Guys Get Paid? have continued to stumble. The qualifiers, and subsequently the event, will determine which teams can truly compete with the top dogs.
