Evil Geniuses (EG) have announced their entrance into professional Overwatch by signing the previous roster of East Wind. The team has had strong showings in local online tournaments, winning a number of the Athena Cup Open League tournaments as well as qualifying for the Overwatch Monthly Melee in April. In the tournament, the team successfully qualified for the playoffs, beating NRG Esports and Selfless Gaming 2-0 in the group stages. The team was practicing in EG’s XFINITY Training Facility, an exclusive practice facility for the organization’s many e-sports teams.

As an organization, EG has had great success in first person shooters and Blizzard titles. The team had one of the strongest lineups for a foreign organization in StarCraft 2, and has had successful teams in FPS titles such as Counter Strike 1.6 and Team Fortress 2. However, EG is most notable for its Dota 2 and fighting game rosters, signing some of the best global talent. The organization’s support provides the team with a multitude of tools for improvement, hopefully allowing the roster to reach it’s full potential.

The team is set to compete in the upcoming Athena Cup Open League #6 tomorrow. As the original article and Kayuun note, the team will be playing with Dcop as a trial tank for this and other upcoming tournaments.

The Evil Geniuses roster is:

  • Justin "Kayuun" Ha (DPS)
  • Corey "Corey" Nigra (DPS)
  • Lucas "Peebimitsu" Nettesheim (Flex)
  • Anthony "Goliath" Pietro (Support)
  • Elijah "Elkiea" Gallagher (Support)
  • Carlo "Dcop" Delsol (Trial Tank)
