$100,000 Team Story Chapter 1 underway in Shanghai

Following on from the APAC Premier, China continues to demonstrate hefty support for Overwatch. Banana Culture have passed the torch Battle Flag who arrive with a new $100,000 Blizzard-approved tournament to be hosted on zhanqi.tv.

Taking inspiration from their own successful Hearthstone Team Story events, the first Overwatch Team Story is already underway on location in Shanghai with an expected six week duration. The event is set to showcase the finest Chinese talent including APAC participants NGA.Titan, Invictus Gaming Fire, Skadi’s Gift and VICI Gaming who were seeded into separate groups.

All the games will be best-of-five including the group stages that started last weekend. A complete GSL-style double elimination group will be played every weekend for the rest of December. The top two from each progress to the eight team double elimination playoff bracket which runs 29th-31st December and 6th-8th January with best-of-five series right up until the best-of-seven Grand Final.

Group A - December 3rd-4th

  • NGA.Titan (2-1)
  • 1246 (1-2)
  • MyTh Club (0-2)

Group A has already been completed and after a tight fought opening match between Team.WE and NGA.Titan both swept aside the rest of the competition to finish first and second seed respectively from their group.

Group B - December 9th-10th

  • Snake eSports
  • Invictus Gaming Ice

Group C - December 16th-17th

  • Skadi’s Gift
  • Star Horn Royal Club
  • eStar Gaming
  • Super Valiant LYB

Group D - December 23rd-24th

  • ahq e-Sports Club
  • Team Celestial
