Hockey, pretty often actually. Though in this case, after seeing each team in action, I'm not convinced we'll be able to overcome the Russian squad. They looked much more coordinated even though they had two new members join extremely recently.

I'm still holding out hope that my meese riding, maple syrup (only) eating and igloo living brethren can pull through and get the win.

Imo, Mistakes Tracer is better than Surefour's, SB's Genji is better than Agilities and sharyk's tank play is better than xQc's. Everything else if fairly even. I reckon Russia will have the edge in this game but ultimately it's a team game and comes down to who performs better on the day. Russia certainly haven't looked like a team who've had limited practice though.

Should have mentioned though if Canada play pharmercy then Russia might struggle. Without unfixed they don't have a stand out soldier.

#36
IcebergDiz

Frags

sharyks and xqcs tank play is very similar, shadowburn better than agilities but not by a massive margin, but mistakes better than surefour is a reach. Surefour has played in so many LANs and his tracer has always been consistent but more importantly super clutch. Ill admit i havent seen much of mistakes but judging him off this tournament surefour will definatly win the tracer battle imo, i agree that every other role is pretty even, this will be the best match of the weekend for sure.

#40
Winter

Frags

Just my opinion. Surefour shines when the emphasis is put on him and his team tries to play around him, something Canada haven't been doing because they've got so many good individuals. From what I've seen from Mistakes in both the World Cup and Contenders, his Tracer has impressed me more than most in the west.

It's nowhere near Mangachu's or Surefour's. If Canada does get Pharah friendly maps I think they'll be going for that strat. It might be their best chance at at least getting 2 maps off the Russians imo.

Yeah SDB has a way better pharah than both surefour and mangachu. Plus if they put roolf on mercy than he can't do as much as he could on Ana or Zenyatta

#41
Pixelfish
3
Frags
+

I think this whole thread is underestimating Canada. I personally think Agilities is on the same level as SDB, S4 by far outclasses Mistakes, and xQc is a much more consistent Winston. Plus they have a much stronger support duo (Rubikon is definitely a weak point for Russia) and Mangachu's flexibility plus his Pharah makes him much more valuable than Txao.

#43
Winter
2
Frags

It's all a game of opinions. I think you've massively overestimated Canada, but we'll just have to wait and see what happens tomorrow. Nevertheless it'll be the best game of the tournament this weekend.

#44
KuroiRyuu9625
4
Frags

Mangachu's a great pharah, a good soldier, and an OK D.Va, I don't know where that puts him when comparing his Off Tank play to Txao but when he's pressured or when he needs to peel for his teammates we start to see cracks.

My guess is that our best bet to win tomorrow is to abuse the shit out of Pharah comps wherever possible.

As for 1v1 matchups, I don't think there's as much of a skill gap as what's been said here but here's how I rate them:

  • SDB > Agilities on Genji
  • Mistakes > S4 if we limit them to Tracer but S4 has a massively bigger effective hero pool.
  • Sharyk >= xQc, I give a slight edge to Sharyk based on recent results but I think this matchup is largely dictated by who is better synced with his team. This one is more or less a toss up for me.
  • Roolf > Forsaken
  • Joemeister > Rubikon when it comes to Lucio things.

The main advantage I'd give Canada would be more flexibility team wise and a greater possibility of viable comps based on each player's proven hero pool.

As for Russia they looked more coordinated than Canada in their games and that usually translates to more wins when skill gaps are minimal imo.

Really in the end the team that has a better day and that is able to execute the game plan with the more effectiveness is gonna win and I think it could be either or!

But let's face it, I live in out nation's Capital. I speak French and eat maple syrup flavored poutine everyday so...GO CANADA GOOOOOOO!!!

#49
Involv3r

Frags

Why are people basing their guesses on hero by hero comparison ?
Surefour is not the best on any hero, but he's still here, still feared. He's like Varys. The storms come and go, the waves crash overhead, the big fish eat the little fish, and he motherfucking keeps on paddling.

Besides, IMT pelted Arc6's Pharamercy (arguably in top 2 NA) running Genji Tracer. You don't necessarily need a 76 to counter the combo, and Russia's Genji Tracer duo are individually scary. S C A R Y.

So if CA decides to run Pharah, they damn better be prepared. Can't wait, it's gonna be a sick game.

#50
KuroiRyuu9625
2
Frags
+

Cause it's fun to speculate and comparing these "super teams" to the likes of Arc6 and IMT is difficult to do since thye don't have the set plays of the established teams so going off of individual skill and recent results would be the most semi-reliable way to try and predict match outcome.

Of course this is OW so anything can happen, but I still think Canada can make the Pharmacy work. They have two of the best Pharah players in the scene and I'm not convinced Russia has as much coordination as IMT showed during Contenders.

I still think it's anyone's game though I give the edge to Russia based on what I saw from them and Canada...but I know ma boyz can clutch it and pull through.

We all know that who ever finishes 2nd had a very high chance of getting hella bodied so the fight is on!

#51
Involv3r
2
Frags
+

You say Russia doesn't have as much coordination as IMT, and I totally agree, but you do realise that Canada doesn't have as much coordination as Arc6. The teams not having set plays and much play time together is true, but it works both ways.

And I hope they make the combo work, Pharah's probably my favourite hero so I wouldn't mind that at all.
Also, in my opinion, tank synergy will be the decider tomorrow. And I don't know what to make of Roolf's Sombra, had good and not so good moments, although he's been stellar on every other support he played.

But if I wasn't clear, my bad, but I wasn't bashing on people speculating, I do it myself. It's more of an existential question. As in some people believe that it's an exact science to predict the outcome of a game.

#67
KuroiRyuu9625
2
Frags
+

Yeah I get it, but I think you may have read too much into it. Speculating and predicting match outcomes can't be an exact science since it's all based on opinion and whatever other factors people put into it. You can disagree with the method but you can't quantify it as right or wrong.

Hollywood looked so messy for Canada, but 2 dragonblades clutched the whole map. Also Forsak3n had a 2 piece and forced S4 to recall, and Txao matrixed SDB that whole time, but went unnoticed sadly
Ilios was a good sweep, but it proved Russia's traditional dive outperforms Canada's.

Canada looks a bit lost, cause trying to mirror Russia obviously isn't working but I'm surprised they didn't used the Pharah on Illios Ruins since I think they could have possibly taken it 2-0.

I said earlier that they don't necessarily need a 76 to deal with a Pharah Mercy, but you can't logically spend 3 games eating Pharah rockets on the forehead without even trying something else.
I honestly underestimated Mangachu's Pharah, his poke damage value was amazing, and this was a case of EU not playing with/against Mercy at all in recent times, they usually couple Zen with Pharah.

Like even SDB drifted on the point at the end just by himself, it's like he zoned out..
