Aera eSports is a French organisation that already houses teams from CS:GO, Hearthstone, Rocket League, and FIFA 16. The org recently took a dive into Overwatch as well by picking up a top French team previously known as NoNameYet. This side features some excellent French talent and is knocking on the ceiling of the domestic scene.

You may be familiar with members of Aera from their history in TF2, or have seen Tek play in the original G2 Esports team. Perhaps you even saw them place 2nd at Gamers Assembly under the name Cooldown. They're now actively trying to qualify for ESL Atlantic Showdown and consider themselves able to break into the top 15 teams in Europe.

Sources inside the impenetrable French scene tell us that they're very closed matched with GamersOrigin, while team member Tek says, "I have no idea, we didn't play GamersOrigin since a long time!" Given the frequency of LANs in France it seems only a matter of time until this highly anticipated head-to-head materialises.

Unfortunately the crazy but lovable Frenchmen in this team were impossible to get any further info from, other than that they are planning to attend Insomnia58's Overwatch tournament.

When these teams have more of an opportunity to battle each other and top French team melty eSports Club, we'll see more clearly how the land lies. For now, the French scene looks very interesting and packed full of potential. The country has multiple top teams, a range of supportive organisations, and its own miniature LAN circuit. If that isn't a recipe for success, I don't know what is.

The Aera eSports roster is:

  • Ludo "nuja" Olaizola (DPS)
  • Mikaël "Hidan" Da Silva (Support)
  • Nino "Platernity" Junghans (Support)
  • Kevin "Exon" Riou (Flex)
  • Frederic "triseaux" Blanc (Manager)
