Cyclowns have officially added a new flex support player, Epzz, to their starting roster. The team played with him in the Contenders qualifiers, securing ninth seed after winning on the second day. Cyclowns will continue to trial lateks for the main tank position.

Cyclowns have been through the wars lately. After proving themselves as a team worthy of note in the European scene, battling through scores of Go4Overwatch Weeklies and other such minor tournaments, they qualified for TaKeOver 2 just to see two players leave them before the LAN.

Former player Boombox left for new adventures in May, and Cyclowns responded by shifting flex DPS poks over to Zenyatta as the team loaned Krytox on Genji. Mowzassa announced his departure from the team shortly afterwards, forcing coach iuKeEe filled in on tank for them at the $50,000 event.

Despite their issues and their joint last place finish at TaKeOver 2, the team performed admirably with their cobbled together roster and were one of only two teams to take a map from Rogue. The potential of the team was there, hidden below the surface, and it spurred Cyclowns on to stick together for Contenders with some new players.

Epzz and lateks joined the team for Contenders qualifiers; both were familiar with each other, having played together as th0nkers then Red Reserve since late 2016. With poks back on flex DPS alongside Davin, the team looked somewhat back to their former selves. It took a 1-2 loss against eUnited to stop them in the first day of Contenders qualifiers but they could not be denied on the second.

Despite dropping some maps to lesser known teams early on in the bracket - no doubt frightening iuKeEe who had returned to his coaching position - Cyclowns stormed to victory on the second day and looked unbeatable against Team expert and GamersOrigin.

Epzz has Boombox's big boots to fill but Cyclowns appear to have absolute confidence; the team has snapped him up almost instantly. lateks will continue to trial moving forward in Contenders.

Cyclowns are in a group for Contenders Season Zero with perennial rivals Movistar Riders, upstarts 123, and Finnish Alfa Squad.

The new Cyclowns roster is:

  • Tuomo ”Davin” Leppänen (DPS)
  • Antti ”poks” Hellstedt (DPS)
  • Emil ”destro” Krastev (Flex)
  • Andreas "Epzz" Wallvingskog (Support)
  • Ryan ”CrusaDe” van Wegen (Support)
  • Luke ”iuKeEe” Dainton (Coach)
