Three weeks after announcing their roster, the LDLC team have yet to officially sign with the organisation. In the time it took between announcing the acquisition and their bootcamp in Paris that will formalise the deal, kr4tos has been replaced by Clown of ex-OWKings. He will play Lucio for the team, as KabaL has shifted over to the flex support.

In the middle of September, LDLC unveiled their Overwatch roster. Ex-Melty’s KabaL had combined himself with the core of Le Mixxx to bring a solid side to the French organisation and they were hoping to contest top teams on their journey upwards.

The captain of that Le Mixxx core was kr4tos, a former TF2 player who had experience in a range of good Overwatch teams and had decided to form his own. He had developed ties with klanton and Mezamorphis from early beta and discovered Mete and ube through MasterOverwatch rankings, bringing them together with KabaL first to try out for mousesports and then breaking away to sign with LDLC. kr4tos had also found personal success both through the promising teams he had been part of and by being invited to Blizzcon as part of Team Germany.

While normally known for his excellent Mercy play and solid flex support skills, with the addition of KabaL the soon-to-be LDLC roster was finding more success with the Frenchman on Zenyatta. This moved kr4tos onto Lucio for the sake of the team.

Just after announcing the roster for LDLC, kr4tos was scheduled to go on vacation for a week. The team brought in Clown, recently freed from his ties to OWKings, to stand in; the team quickly fell in love and decided that his Lucio play was helping their team achieve better results. The team felt his shotcalling and personal level on the hero allowed them to take 3rd in a GosuGamer Weekly, coming close to LG and NWA, as well as finishing 2nd in another tournament closely behind NWA.

While the team said they felt sad by the decision to remove a friend from the roster, and a skilled one at that, the reality of Overwatch’s competitive scene is clear. This is a cut-throat time in the game’s history, as the results of a single roster change have potential to make a large difference.

The team, with Clown on support, is expected to sign with LDLC this week. That roster is:

  • Jānis “Clown” Zagrebins (Support)
  • Guillaume "KabaL" Ettori (Support)
  • Mihail "Mezamorphis" Păunecu (Tank)
  • Metehan "Mete" Aksüt (Flex)
  • Rikard "klanton" Lundberg (DPS)
  • Toni "Ube" Häkli (DPS)
