k1ck announced recently that they have entered back into the Overwatch scene with a full Portuguese roster, previously known as Eyeoctane, who have seen some small European victories and are looking to build on them in the coming months.

During the three months of this teams life, k1ck has managed to win several Portuguese cups, finished in the top 4 of ESL, and won the third edition of the Nights Watch cup, beating some challenging opponents along the way. k1ck also finished 2nd in the Lenovo Summership Cup after beating Prets in the Quarter Final, taking Team Aera to a closely fought fifth map in the Final.

I spoke to team captain san alex:

Recently we reach the third round in Faceit and we had a close match against "Other Team" (currently ranked 15 in GosuGamers). We also manage to beat Electronik Generation eSports in the ESL Opening Cup (a team with Prem TF2 players like kiler4fun,stuntz and reaper) It is the third time we beat them in a final, but the games are always intense since we both know each other from the Portuguese TF2 scene.

Most players in k1ck.ow have a lot of experience in other eSports. The former professional quake player "insan3" joined the team, and we have players like Gizmo that played for Copenhagen Wolves in Starcraft 2 and Dypper an old school Unreal Tournment player. I come from TF2, and I was present in the OW competitive scene from the start. I was in a team with byte in the first part of the closed beta. Later I joined Broken Edge a team with Klanton, Point, Atomicus and other known names in the scene. In May I decided to create my own team and the results were good so far.

On a small scale it is important for us to be the best team in the Iberian Peninsula (Portugal and Spain) but we are aiming for the top 10, we have been scrimming top teams consistently and we will have more time to do it now. I can say that the goal we have in mind is to make K1ck.ow one of the best Overwatch teams in the international scene.

k1ck were previously one of the first organisations to get involved in Overwatch with the signing of a European team, featuring talents such as Taimou, michr, EISSFELDT, and others. The team disbanded shortly before the official launch of the game, with players going their separate ways.

Despite not having the star names of its predecessor, this new Portuguese roster is burning to show it can improve and deliver for k1ck. The new roster for k1ck is:

  • Bruno “ins” Pereira (dps)
  • Jorge “dypper” Mota (dps)
  • Alexandre “san alex” Simões (flex)
  • Bruno “GizmomcS” Calapez (tank)
  • Tomás “Lampreia” Novais (support)
  • Renato “k3” Faustino (support)
