This match will pretty much decide whether or not Immortals make the top four.
Grim needs to step it up, problem is he's likely to have a bad time with Carpe on the other side while Agilities will have to challenge SDB. This is going to be very difficult for IMT if they can't sort out the disconnect that's going on with their dive. This has the chance of either being an epic match on the patch to redemption, or a dumpster fest of a train reck.
I'm hoping for the former, Faze wins 3-1, let's see that prediction curse in full effect with another reversal.
Even ignoring recent results, Faze just has better players than their counterparts. Faze wins this handily. Faze are the 2nd best NA team right now imo.
What I'm expecting from this match; Carpe and Shadowburn shit all over IMT, Fate continues to feed and Grim continues to be invisible. Agilities will try to hard carry the team on his back like he always does, but there's only so much one Genji can do. Faze wins 4-0 or 4-1.
FaZe does seem like they could claim their seat as the 2nd best NA team right now but more games need to be had to solidify that since they could very well get beaten by other squads. Two matches shouldn't be enough to confirm them as such just yet.
What's unfortunate is that right now EnvyUs look as if they're far above everyone else kind like what Rogue had a few months back. Just when we looked like we could finally have a measure of parity at the top of the scene.
MORE golden boy caster!!!!
FaZe Up !!! Not gonna be an easy one but they are the favorite atm. Hope they'll confirm this by winning convincingly !
I hope we get to see SDB in NA ping, always a treat to see the monster he is on wither low ping or, not for the feint of heart mind you, on LAN.
I'm praying that immortals step it up and show the form that they displayed during Season 0 and the BEAT invitational. If they lose this, they're gonna have to make sure they win their next 4 games if they want to at least have a chance of making top 4. I'm rooting for them.
With the way IMT has been playing and the way the individual players match up in that game I think Faze has the edge here. So I'd say Faze wins 3-1 or if IMT really pull it together 3-2.
Faze Clan's flag diversity might give them the upper hand but Immortals 2-2-2 seems more structured. Interesting match.
IMT is probably my favorite team currently, but I think I might actually root for Faze to do well in this matchup. Mostly because I would love to see them get into the OWL.
RIP IMT, ShaDowBurn is in Vegas. Low ping ShaDowBurn is a beast
Wait, did hours change?
Edit: did i miss something? Why are there 3 days of na contenders this week?
Might be cause all teams have to play 7 games and one per week wasn't going to be enough to fit all of them into 6 weeks. I always wondered about that, and I guess this is how they're gonna do it.
Note that they're also having 3 match days on the week of September 15th, 16th, and 17th.
If envy plays then ez for korean powerhouse Immortals. 3 koreans vs 1 I know who I'm backing. IMT 3-1.
Why is this on a friday?
Three days of matches this week.
They have 6 weeks to have everyone play 7 games so they had to add a day.
This week NA has three days, next week it's EU, the week after that it's NA again and finally EU for the last group phase week.
Holy SHIT stop using Envy!!! Bring Hyped! They're never gonna win like this, what is going on? Something has to be going wrong with the coaching staff or player chemistry or just something. They look miles away from their performances just a month or two ago.
Envy's Zarya looked way better this week. His Dva still not up to par imo. Again, idk what's going on with Grim, he's not looking good at all. Is it because Agilities getting majority of the team's support ? Honestly can't tell..
Possibly, but I think it's because his Tracer just isn't that great. He can mostly get the job done but against top tier Tracers it can be a liability. You could see him losing most of the 1v1 to Carpe. If he can be on 76 or McCree he might have more impact on fights.
We'll have to see what they decide to keep him on.
Even on Soldier he looked underwhelming. Mccree is his signature hero but other players adapted, and he was playing well when IMT was rolling a couple months ago.
Something so drastic has to have a reason though, even Fate, who was their best player, looks shakey. Did they change something in their playstyle ? Can't see it personally, maybe in a few games they'll look strong again. But this is mind boggling. Only Verbo and Kariv came to play right now, Agilities as well but too inconsistent.
And that was some bad shot calling (I'm guessing Verbo) on 2nd point defense from IMT. Can't let one Dead Eye back you out with 5 meters to cap. This is weird..
Also, the first point. It looked like they were going back in, but waited too long.
True. Like you can see Fate going forward then backward, then trying to get on it. Something's definitely off with the squad.
Edit: IMT actually looks like a bad GM ranked squad.
Hyped is out buying a new pair of yeezy so he can't play right now FeelsBadMan
IMT C9 2 points in a row on the same map. Is this the first in a tournament match?
So sloppy from the side of Immortals. Had so many moments where they were too passive and wouldn't get onto the objective.
I'm honestly disappointed. I still love these guys, but damn, was I expecting them to dominate alongside Envyus. I know that FaZe is easily the second strongest team besides Envyus, but immortals need to win their next 4 matches. Renegades and FNRGFE should be easier wins, hopefully Rogue are still mortal, and I think they could take on Kungarna. Please please though, use Hyped.
I think those expectations needed to be adjusted immediately after the first match they played and even more so after the loss to EnVision. EnvyUs is good but you can't get destroyed like that if you're to be competing for the top position.
As for Hyped I'd love to see him as well, but there's no guarantee it would have changed anything realistically. Hopefully they can turn it around and win the next 4 games to squeeze into 4th place and the playoffs, but I'm not quite holding my breath for that.
If you are Noah Winston what are you telling you people to do for the OWL team? Bring in another complete squad? Rebuild? Try some other pros on the team?
Wow wow it's only been 3 weeks. For all we know, they made a lot of changes to the way they play/communicate. Or maybe the teams that are beating them are just putting in more work. Point is, we don't know what's going on.
I have been pretty surprised, in a bad fucking way, at how Grim and Envy are underperforming, and said it multiple times. But I'm sure there is a reason to that, can't go from that good to that bad in a matter of weeks without one.
A lot of people in the scene are saying really good things about Envy, he just hasn't found his place yet, and I'm guess that's why they're forcing him on the squad so he gets used to the competition. They're a very tight group of good players, I'm sure they'll figure it out. But talking about changing things up at the first sign of weakness is kind of pushing it imo.
IMT looked BETTER...but I feel like they need Hyped to sort of maintain a defensive coordination so their back line doesn't get immediately shredded. Envy's a great offensive tank, but he's less useful against the more coordinated teams in this tourney like Envision and EnVyUs since they just handle IMT's dive and allow the DPS to wreck the unprotected supports. Kinda similar to how Lunatic-Hai wrecked AFB last season of APEX (with less Sombra).
I don't think they should make roster changes. They need to figure themselves out, every team gets in slumps at some points. I have hope for them.
Immortals has always been a team dependant on preparing their internal communication on 1 compostion(with little to no changes) and preparing against known compostions (this is why they were dominant in triple tank in NA and why they had a slump when dive first became popular).
The meta has adjusted once again, which means they now have to adjust to the new meta... add to the fact that they now have koreans and are getting accustomed to a new type of communication(english and korean) it's apparent to me why they are stuggling...
This is an issue that will be resolved with time, not necessarily roster changes imo. I don't think contenders is a huge loss to them as they already have an OWL spot. So what they should focus on is refining their communication.
As for why they performed so well when fate and kariv just came in, they were both already adjusted to dive and just need some time to adjust to the new setting(NA and the IMT team). Now that the meta has shifted though... (refer to first comment)
