if there's anyone in the tournament that would give a team the best chance of beating or at LEAST putting up a fight with SK, it would be kyky. if team USA didn't have him, i wouldn't be so positive. i'm not saying it'll be a USA upset, but i have faith that this won't be an EZ 3-0.

now we can see why the new spectator mode was taking quite the while! you have to applaud the team for taking GREAT care in improving the system. this goes above and beyond what i expected!

posted this elsewhere before, i always love showing off my setup. it's my pride and joy! no 144hz monitor yet. i need a color-accurate IPS panel (for my line of work, and also personal preference), so finding a good IPS panel that ALSO does 120-144hz is $$$$. soon! it's on my list :P i've been thinking on settling for a really really good TN panel, honestly.

wow. gotta say, i didn't pay much attention to the roster details/team names earlier in the scene, i had no idea TwoEasy was involved if not the main builder of all those teams. christ. that's incredible. not many others can say they've done the same.

he seems like a smart fellow, hope he finds success :)

the look on the LH fangirls' faces after the loss on the first map. they were completely speechless

finding incidents of toxicity & throwing occurring in every rank has discouraged me from attempting to climb. why try to climb to diamond if no one seems to take their rank seriously anymore? i honestly have more fun 2-3 stacking in quick play than i do in comp.

as most have said, the only fun in comp i've had was playing in 4-5 stacks with friends. nowadays i almost exclusively QP with my girlfriend. at least i can turn off text chat and still have fun picking bastion or trying out symmetra (who i never play) in QP without getting raged at. turning off text chat in overwatch has significantly improved my capability to have fun, i must say. which is sad.

in babybay's twitter description (https://twitter.com/KING_BABYBAY) he writes "DPS/Off Tank" so could that be it? i've never heard or seen babybay play tank for a team. has anyone else? lol

What's your favorite team? hopeful ex-fnatic, shameless nV fan, but FNRGFE at heart.
Who's your favorite player? coolmatt69 for just how dang likable he is, and how fun it is to watch him play. effect is just raw talent. inspiring to watch. seagull for his gamesense.
What's your favorite ever match of Overwatch? as of recently, FNRGFE vs envision was pretty entertaining to me hah.
Who are your mains? pharah, tracer, soldier, widow, zenyatta, lucio. currently learning off-tanks/genji/junkrat for fun! honestly i do love to play 95% of the characters. but i lean towards DPS as being my BEST.
What's your favorite movie? a lot of christopher nolan's movies. yes, i was a fan of the dark night rises.
What's your favorite food? beer! beer. and asian food. (japanese, chinese, korean, filipino, thai...would love to explore more asian cuisine! as an asian-american, i am a firm believer that it is superior to western cuisine.)
What's your favorite over.gg member? hard to choose! y'all are informative, talkative, and love to keep on top of what's going on.

the defense on numbani by rogue looking super solid. seems like taimou having trouble finding his momentum on this map

i'd be so torn as to which jersey to buy, if they end up releasing jerseys with player names. do i want a 69 jersey or do i want a bird jersey

posted about 6 years ago

i doubt the popularity was "a big factor." taimou is one of the most prolific players in the scene, and team envyus alone has been the most successful team since the inception of competitive overwatch. they don't need more big viewer numbers to succeed any more than they already are. sure it's an added bonus to tack on an enormous fanbase, but they could've done that with or without the bird. if you listen to kyky on dogman's recent podcast you can get a better perspective of how the team as a whole is thinking. not a lot of it really relates or points to a "popularity/fanbase" attitude. they likely understand that the fanbase is a bonus/byproduct of success.

his popularity is never implied in that tweet? hastro literally says they plan on using seagull in strategies on a PER MAP BASIS. envyus never seemed like a team that cared about popularity. if you look at kyky/chips/taimou/effect or any of the players, they're never one to put status first, teamplay second. this isn't a popularity contest.

edit: to add on to that, they signed mickie and effect, both foreign players that were super lowkey/not well known. they signed those two for their skills and their ability to work in the team.

i haven't been watching seagull's streams as of late but it doesn't take much to realize that seagull is an incredibly gifted player. i'm ecstatic about the move to nV. i have no doubt in my mind that seagull is 100% OWL worthy. his game sense is off the charts, his versatility/flexibility is valuable, and his positive attitude makes him a fantastic team player. i imagine he would be a JOY to play with on any team. just because he hasn't played a pro match in a streamed tournament doesn't mean he hasn't been offline scrimming or training or practicing with other teams in custom games. we all are aware of his streaming hiatuses, which can only mean he's taking this seriously.

i doubt signing seagull was purely for his genji or his heropool, but moreso his value as a team player. envy has been known for their unique setups on first-point winning defenses (chips on sombra or harry on soldier, taimou on junkrat, etc) so having seagull with his flexibility and consistency, they could easily try out new comps and setups. this only strengthens envyus's ability to become an unpredictable team.

wanna cheer for my corndog boys but can't underestimate faze's roster. 2-2 in hopes of a good, well-matched series

gotta say, nV's experience in korea and playing against dive teams definitely showed up here. IMT's talent wasn't enough, it seems. hard to top a team with as much experience as nV.
