It seems to be causing quite the uproar in Gambler's stream.

He's currently in a duo Q with Gambler talking about it. Apparently he was released at 4:00 am. One of the comments mention him thinking about going back to LoL but I have no clue as I don't understand Korean

I'm assuming that Brek and Kalios will be on tank duties and that IDK and Lucid will remain on support.

They have a large amount of DPS/Flex players so it could be that Arhan is the only one that stays in while Recry, InYoung and TyDolla swap in and out as needed depending on the strat they want to run.

I think they made the moves to add more flexibility to their squad and bench but I'm still very sad to see Mano go.

posted about 6 years ago

Looks like TyDolla has moved back to AFB (he used to be in AFR before going to ROX)

AFB shake up their roster and send Mano to LW:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Competitiveoverwatch/comments/6saryh/official_afb_roaster_changes_for_apex_season_4/

Not sure how I feel about sending Mano away. I feel like they just weakened their squad and made the LW sister team much better.

They currently have 8 players on their Roster:
Arhan
Recry
Lucid
IDK
InYoung
Brek
Kalios
TyDolla (used to be on AFR, then moved to ROX Orcas, now back with AFB)

Possibly, Moviestar had said they would give it to the players but I don't know if that happened considering they went their separate ways.

Seeing TL sell the spot might make them want to do the same, else they could give it away or defer to Blizzard.

posted about 6 years ago

The spot belongs to the Org, that's in the rules for sure and since there's no longer a team to take ownership of the spot it would seem that they can do with it whatever they want.

In this case selling it to another team/org.I'd like to see Arc6 but I doubt they have the money to buy it. Next up are the playoff teams of eV and LGE, of which only LGE is confirmed to have a full squad at the moment. Lastly you have the other Orgs like CLG that are just missing a piece to their puzzle.

This is an interesting situation that maybe should have been predicted and put in the rules? It's not that odd that an Org would drops it's roster in the wait for OWL and what not.

Very interesting.

Chinese Taipei is what Blizzard uses but I wonder how much of that is to not offend China, but I believe it should be Taiwan

I've always known that region as Taiwan and it was taught to me as such in geography (Canada). Wikipedia actually has two entries for the country.

Taiwan:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taiwan

Chinese Taipei:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_Taipei

And a couple of articles explaining the awkwardness of the naming choice in regards to China and Taiwanese people themselves:
http://www.golfchannel.com/news/golf-central-blog/chinese-taipei-or-taiwan-awkward-moments-intl-crown/
http://www.cnn.com/2016/08/05/sport/taiwan-olympics-chinese-taipei/index.html

Even though I'm not affected by this I'm happy that over.gg lists them as Team Taiwan, whatever little it may change for them.

posted about 6 years ago

I don't know if Blizz is putting any restrictions on the sale of this spot but I was wondering if they'd limit them to trying to strike a deal with either eV or LGE before opening it up to any other Org.

There's a twitter debate about this since the spot is owned by TL but some parties feel like it should go to one of the teams that made the playoffs since in a lot of other games that's what would happen.

I wonder how this is going to turn out. Bit of drama generated by this.

posted about 6 years ago

Thank you for that gem of a website though. I'm gonna go have some serious fun with this...

posted about 6 years ago

Ah I understand, I didn't if you were trolling with that article or not. I studied in BioChem so I was confused what the link to anything actually was...cause H2O...but I just let ppl believe what they want to on public forums for the most part.

posted about 6 years ago

Not sure where you got C9 out of that last comment...or how DHMO is related to vaccines/autism but I did read the whole article nonetheless.

Thinking about it Both LGE and EnVision were teams to have made top 8. I'm guessing LGE is probably in a better position to buy it from TL since they have a full roster but I wonder how it'll go down...

posted about 6 years ago

Actually the spot could go to EnVision if they field a full roster. They actually made the playoffs but lost their spot to FaZe I believe.

But since it belong to the Org and they seem to want to sell it I don't think it will go to an unsigned team.

And vaccines cause autism right?

I don't understand what you wrote.

I expected AZK to possibly leave but I didn't see them dropping the whole Overwatch roster. I fully believe that both MESR and Shadder will find themselves homes pretty quick though.

On the note of Contenders it's too bad Cloud9 seems to be in Flux, they could have taken that spot. Maybe they borrow MESR for the weekend and see how it goes?

Using cover usually involves being close to a wall. If your back is to the open you're very likely to get flanked. See the issue here? The only way to really get around this is having a corridor behind you that the enemy can't use.

The lack of a chance to react is what I'm not a fan of but I understand that he needs to be potent if he's going to be a melee character.

posted about 6 years ago

True that.

posted about 6 years ago

Agreed, a pet peeve of mine with him is that Hog Hook and Rein charge give you a chance to react. The Rocket Punch is so fast that all he has to do is aim at doors and wait until someone goes through for an easy hit. Nothing can block it other that Orisa and even then she's have to be hella fast in seeing him.

As for his size I think he is huge, but it's required otherwise with his insane mobility he'd be very difficult to take down on top of having insane burst potential.

posted about 6 years ago

Don't forget that Russia also had the rare flag meta advantage, yet they couldn't overcome the Canadian Bacon squad's Maple Syrup superiority.

All jokes aside Belgium has some scary ass players in SPREE and Logix but I think Team UK will take this in what I hope will be a very close match.

posted about 6 years ago

Will ELLIVOTE be in instead of Exxu, I know the latter played for them in their ESL Go4Overwatch win. In either case we have a Contenders Season 0 grudge match for Vivi's.

TS has looked stronger as of late but let's see if they can turn the tables and drop them to the lower bracket. Even if they happen to lose I'm fully convinced we're also looking at the Grand Finals of this tournament.

posted about 6 years ago

This should be interesting. FTD was one of the teams that dominated the Spring Series group phase but failed to translate it into a deep run in the playoffs.

Team CC being made up of IG Fire & Ice members, where neither team managed to make a huge splash in their respective Summer and Spring series.

Looking at recent results it's hard to tell who's much better but I think FTD was able to get a bit further in the OWPS matches they've played as well as making it into the main event of the Nexus cup. From this I think FTD might take it but personally I'd like to see CC win and go far in this event.

posted about 6 years ago

Cantus gonna be putting on his carry pants to give his squad a fighting chance. I'm assuming team USA takes this but hopefully they make a match of it.

posted about 6 years ago

They kinda came out of knowing after finishing middle of the pack in the Spring Series groups phase and surprising the dominant LGD squad but I'm looking forward to seeing if they can keep the momentum and high level of play going in this leg as well.

posted about 6 years ago

LGD back in full force now that their leg of the OWC groups is over. I fully expect them to resume dominating most teams as they had done in the Spring series where they went 9-0 and only lost 3 maps in the group phase on their way to a tight finals loss to 1246.

posted about 6 years ago

Roster changes abound! But realistically this should be a swift 3-0 for KDP unless KDU have some LHesque strats hidden just for them.

Enter the Kongdoo Civil War Era.

posted about 6 years ago

THE USA team is a beast and by the looks of it seems more balanced than Canada, but I don't think they'll be able to Overcome Taiwan/Flash Wolves with them being a full team and how strong they seem to be.

I don't know if a sweep is in the cards but I think a Taiwan victory is likely, though "surprises" aren't totally unexpected.

posted about 6 years ago

I think this will probably be the battle for 2nd in the group, though a lot can happen and things might go in a totally different direction, for now I see both of these teams losing the Taiwan and fighting for their chance at a playoff spot.

posted about 6 years ago

The format is 4 maps being played regardless of score (other than ties on hybrid point A or assault). The only reason the Canada/Russia match had a fifth map was because they were deciding who was ending first or 2nd in their group.

I think this will be a 4-0 for Taiwan though I'd be very happy to be absolutely wrong here. I'm seeing the USA vs Brazil match as probably being more of a competition than this one.

posted about 6 years ago

The ones I know of are MY and Luckly Future with both being in the OPS Summer tournament. I haven't had a chance to see them play but being there in the first place is quite huge. I'm sure there can only be more to come and hopefully she opens the door for others in Korea as well.

posted about 6 years ago

I do wish they would have kept the Fire & Ice theme in some fashion. I mean they would have won on epicness points alone!

Need to get themselves another Korean flag to span across NA, EU and KR. Also, epic as hell twitter post for that announcement.

The Premier Series 2017 Summer Season is about to begin. With this we'll get to see which of teams of the Chinese contingent get to go to APAC. I'm guessing they should do quite better than last year with the marked improvement we've seen in their competitiveness.

posted about 6 years ago

Overall I think they're in the best group when it comes to the possibility of making it out. None of the teams in this one have looked particularly strong with LWB being ahead in terms of results compared to the other three.

Meta Bellum is new and X6 have looked a bit shaky in the recent tournaments so i think they have as good a chance as any to make it to the playoffs. Things get pretty tricky afterwards if they haven't significantly improved compared to last season.

Right now the top looks like this to me:

LH >= KDP > AFB > LWB >= MA

A victory against LWB in these groups would go a long way in helping them go further than they've gone in the past couple of seasons.

I don't think Jehong could have waited much longer to sleep dart. The risk of not being able to hit it due to the unpredictability of the opponent who can kill you in 2-3 slashes is too high.

I'm a Genji main, but I think all ults should be all in, once you hit Q, you're committed. And I think that should stay true whether you get to make any use of your ult or not. If that's too harsh than an immediate 50% drain to 0% after the first second of having activated the ability.

Basically I don't want the possibility of a player being able to use the ult in the same encounter if they were outplayed or got unlucky.

posted about 6 years ago

I love you. Way to make use of the most epic show to ever air.

On another note this is interesting, neither of the Invictus squads looked particularly strong in either tournaments. At least not enough to be able to successfully take on the likes of LGD, 1246 or MY.

It'll be interesting how they plan on improving the squad on their way to the main summer even, APAC if they qualify, and the OWL afterwards.

posted about 6 years ago

Indeed, looking forward to seeing if Ardeont, ahq, BLANK or MEGA can challenge Flash Wolves at the top this season. Also note that a couple of the OWC guys from Japan are playing in this with Libalent, lots of new stuff and possible challengers.

posted about 6 years ago

It's broken, they didn't make the swap to the other side. I'm assuming they'll have it fixed eventually.

posted about 6 years ago

Interesting changes. Sad to see Butcher and Panker go but I hope they find success in the west. Also good to see a bunch of the AFR guys find new homes.

Will be looking forward to seeing who can make better use of their new additions because they all have some pretty big challenges ahead.

These are the current playoff brackets:
http://imgur.com/jeqtzMz

I believe who ever wins the G1 vs H2 match will play Korea and the winners of G1 vs H1 will play Canada. If things go as I think they might it would be Korea vs Taiwan and Canada vs USA if both manage to win their qualifier matches.

Not gonna lie, I'm rooting real hard for that Canada vs USA match here since I'd rather not see my southern brothers have to face Korea that early. That and we get to have another top 10 hocke...I mean great Overwatch match!

posted about 6 years ago

Right but I was talking about how the Korean approach to Overwatch is more conducive to having a super team work because they're much more focused on teamwork.

Can't speak for western super teams since those would probably be hit or miss like you're alluding to but our eastern friends seem to be more adaptive and receptive to going all in on strategies that benefit the whole squad.

posted about 6 years ago

Happy that the squad was able to go home with a solid victory. A nice end to a tough weekend.

Looks like it's a team called Stardust. Never heard of em but X6 hasn't been pressures much as of yet.

I believe she will, she seemed like an amazing Zarya though I haven't seen her D.Va. It's good to see that the hackusations haven't stopped her from finally make it it into APEX and I look forward to following their performance in the next Season.

posted about 6 years ago

She signed with ROX Orcas, ma boi TyDolla finally gonna have some solid support if he ever goes back to Genji. One thing to note is if she will be able to take her considerable skills and fully adjust them to the level that APEX requires to be successful.

In either case this is good news for any other Female professional with the skills to pay the bills.

I think the technical side isn't something the viewer needs to be aware or mindful of. Really the goal here would be to provide feedback on what we liked to see, what we didn't, what made the game easiest to understand and what did not. Things along those lines so that they can take it and possibly improve the experience on future iterations.

Instead of looking at the practical and technical applications of the desired changes I think feedback should focus on the experience and they can do with that what they think would replicate that or what they feel could improve the flow and understandability of the game.

Like you mentioned right now the meta is crazy fast so I think it's even more important to have a good understanding of what will best convey the ongoing engagements.

posted about 6 years ago

I'd have to agree with #2 & #3, LGD have been at the top of the Chinese scene for a while save for their one loss to 1246 in the finals of the Spring Series. Looks like LGD, 1246 (if they can keep the momentum from their big win) and MY might be the top 3 in that scene right now but really we'll get to see who steps up here.

Spots at APAC are on the line.
