Sad times for the team, hopefully things work out for them.

Indeed, looking forward to seeing if either team will be able to adapt to the other's play style.

Rogue got somewhat stomped on in APEX but I'm looking forward to see how they do back in the west. If they breeze through this tournament it will just mean that Korea is that far ahead of us.

All hail our Overwatch Korean overlords.

ROX Orcas for APEX Season 5, yeah bb!!

Interesting...

Rogue was sent home when they lost to LH, since they lost the head to head against KDP. This game has no impact on group results.

The France committee confirmed (AlphaCast) that they would be sending rogue, but since these guys have Mickie and three members of Fireball I think they still have a chance, ya never know right?

His scrim team wasn't able to beat Toronto eSports though.

Yes they were :(

I do hope this actually is the new face of Faze, and omg they HAVE to actually follow through and bring SDB over to NA so he can stop laying tournaments on high ping.

posted about 6 years ago

I think MVP Space will win this but I'm not confident about either team's results in the 2nd phase. Having to play LH, AF Blue or nV off the bat probably won't turn out well.

posted about 6 years ago

Looks like he's with Faze Clan for contenders along with Spree and Joemeister and the three remaining members, hope it works out for him!

posted about 6 years ago

Pretty much just bragging rights for KDP, and to possibly establish themselves as the best 2nd place team. Looking forward to the next phase, 6 of the eight teams are pretty solid.

posted about 6 years ago

Should be an easy game for Meta, looking forward to see how they do in the next phase.

posted about 6 years ago

I don't think this match ever meant anything since KDU would be relegated anyways. They had no wins and about to face the best team in their group while the other two contenders beat them. Hopefully they can rebuild and come back stronger.

I also think that any team in this group other than AF Blue would not have won a single had they been placed in group A. It wasn't just the "so-called group of death", it absolutely was.

Group B and C's 2nd place teams are going to be badly out matched in the next phase and that's unfortunate.

Fleta needs to find himself a better team...

France already confirmed Rogue will be representing them, remains to be seen what Sweeden, Finland and specially Korea will do.

TyDolla going full Sombra main on this one...not sure it worked out as well as expected though.

posted about 6 years ago

Well that was disappointing. Still I guess it's not too bad for their first tournament after the new addition. Gotta say though, Gods feels weak, no matter how much of a hard on the casters had for him.

posted about 6 years ago

Regardless of who talks shit, at some point the "professional" aspect of this "sport" needs to come through if it wants to be taken seriously. The potential for scandals when you have a bunch of kids bitch slapping each other over the internet is strong and I assume that's not where the scene wants to be.

If mutual respect is too hard then shutting up is the next best thing, imo.

posted about 6 years ago

Lets see some tier 1.5 teams get stomped by Rogue. Fixed it for you.

posted about 6 years ago

They may be "Pro" level gamers but most of them are still kids in several ways. Hopefully they all grow out of it sooner rather than later.

posted about 6 years ago

If you're referring to the previous post that had indicated that three EU and three NA teams would be invited that was debunked by someone associated to the event saying that format had never been confirmed other than in speculations.

posted about 6 years ago

The way the league looks like it will work player contracts will have to be bought out anyways so free agents are preferable. This was probably going to have to happen so let's not jump on the panic train yet.

The widow argument is odd and a bit extreme, honestly at that level he arguably could have others heroes he plays at a high enough level for PRO play but we won't know until they feel the need to bring them out. As Kryma eluded to I assume that nV has seen more to him than just his Tracer if Lui was released, else they might once again fall prey to that inflexibility that doomed them in season 2.

Considering how strong some of the other Korean teams have gotten it wouldn't be that much of a stretch to have a backup plan.

posted about 6 years ago

Though I mostly agree with you I don't think the content here is aimed at people who would ask the questions you alluded to. More than anything I believe it caters to relatively hardcore competitive Overwatch fans and what not.

Not saying that the format won't change but I don't think the arguments you brought forward are that important in this case, in my opinion.

posted about 6 years ago

Considering how stacked the group was it's not that surprising. Note that they more than likely would have made it out of groups B or C who are incredibly weak at the moment. I'm sad because it makes for a less competitive group 2 phase since only 6 of the 8 teams that will make it seem solid.

Oh you bastard, I only realized what it could be after clicking...I'LL NEVER GET THOSE 5 SECONDS OF MY LIFE BACK MAN.

posted about 6 years ago

I'm thinking 3-1 or possibly 3-2 LH, Rogue hasn't seemed solid enough apart from Soon and Unkoe. Nico feels like even more of a liability than Esca so I don't think they'll win this one.

posted about 6 years ago

He is, they just haven't updated the team list I guess.

posted about 6 years ago

Not sure this will give them the challenge needed, more dps means less tanks in the way of EFFECT murdering the supports and Taimou still has good aim. I predict a 3-0 or 3-1 win for nV here.

"Of course you don't like Richard Lewis. People are allowed to believe things that you don't, getting upset over it makes it seem like you're in the same boat as him and don't want to believe it."

Is the only part of your response that doesn't add anything to the conversation imo. To me, at least, the disclaimer doesn't quite compensate for that little addition but that's just me, I read too much into things.

Otherwise I agree with you. I believe the league will do well, and truly hope it does because I really like Pro Overwatch. I also hope that he won't go all "Well I told you so huehuehuehue" if it doesn't go as well. On the other hand I also hope he comes around if it does succeed because he's very skeptical at the moment, though I do think he brings up good points.

The way I see it, regardless of if it's NA or EU, is that these "Pro" players are young. Levels of maturity vary wildly and while it's perfectly fine to feel salty after being cut, this is a professional environment and they just need to shut up and move on.

Usually that's something that comes with age and maturity, obviously some of these guys aren't quite there yet. All I can hope for is that they learn from these mistakes.

Welcome to the real world kids, it sucks, deal with it.

I'd honestly be interested in seeing references to this scientific study that shows that men are better at video games given the same training, knowledge and other controlled circumstances.

Personally I've never heard of such a study but I don't claim to know everything. I will say that it's true that men are better at some things, like spacial recognition and orientation though I don't have knowledge of if this extends to hand-eye coordination in point and click situations.

From the information and knowledge I currently have I will say that I agree that males are more inclined to excel at games. I think mostly because of current societal norms, but I can't say with confidence that they are better because they are biologically built to be better gamers.

My issue with Gale isn't as much with his statement, which if not backed up by credible studies is just blowing hot air, but with his reaction to someone strongly disagreeing with him. I was a teenager once, and I pulling number or statements out of my ass was a normal thing.

Again, he's young and hopefully he just learns from this. The quicker you realize you don't know shit, the smarter you'll become, imo.

posted about 6 years ago

The numbers argument is real and valid. You can't dismiss it as "that can't be the only reason" because it's the main one. If your talents pool is literally hundreds of times bigger chances are you will dominate the scene. Culture and social norms obviously play a big part in this but it's no secret that males just tend to be better at games. They're also mainly aimed at us in the first place so it's no surprise.

As for Gale I understand his point, but the way he was dismissive about a differing opinion and the "triggered" meme he used shows just how young and uneducated he is in the way of debating opinions in a direct, logical and respectful manner. From the comments he made I doubt he'll learn from this, but I still hope he does.

Having an opinion isn't wrong, ever. But dismissing other's and to some point ridiculing them is.

IMO.

inb4 Kaiser joins C9 and my boy Gods can go back to dps. For real though, if this turns out to be true imma have to be hyped as shit.

inb4 Kaiser joins NRG as they drop Numlocked.

posted about 6 years ago

Dummy, Numlocked and Ajax. I've lost faith in those three, bad ults and suspect plays abound. I just hope they can figure shit out sooner rather than later.

posted about 6 years ago

Maybe, but LH is a much stronger team mentally and Rogue seems to not be that great when playing from behind. They also NEED LH or KDP to lose to Mighty AOD or else map scores will come into play (assuming they beat LH).

Assuming that Both KDP and LH beat Mighty AOD 3-0, Rogue needs to beat LH 3-1 or better to have the same map score as them. They should end up second because they won the head to head.

That's asking for alot, but any help from Mighty AOD, like an amazing upset, is very welcome.

posted about 6 years ago

I think Selfless would more than likely struggle at APEX. As pointed out above Koreans excel at adjusting their play. Look no further than the KDP vs Rogue match. Oasis was a good example of them being able to take in what Rogue threw at them, adjust, and come back even stronger. Though I was sad to see Rogue fail to push it to a 5th map, in case map score ever comes into play.

I'm not sure if Selfless would be able to come back from that. Note that I wouldn't mind being wrong here, I'd love to see an NA or EU team do well, I'm just not sure if they'd be the team to do it.

posted about 6 years ago

Had to downvote this, the reasoning behind the "Selfless being dropped" was just so weak it's like we're looking for any reason to start "mass panic".

Please check your facts before you post, information is easy enough to acquire.

posted about 6 years ago

Agreed, it's very unfortunate. There's no doubt they should have won Oasis, sporting a 99-0 lead on the 2nd stage.

Let's not forget the 3k D.Va bomb on Numbani, the win should have been theirs on that map as well.

As for Route 66 (edited) they had the possibility of having a much bigger time bank but they kept bleeding time instead of just regrouping when they started losing people and again in extra rounds when a few of them died (Nico throwing away a Dragon Blade) when they possibly could have recovered for one last stand in overtime.

This series was more winnable than I thought it would be but I don't see them beating LH, mostly because LH seems like a stronger team than KDP mentally, even if they fall behind as we've seen time and time again.

I'll say it again, group balance was even worst than last season (group C anyone?) but I wish them good luck, and pray that Mighty AOD pull a fast one on KDP (3-1 or better) as well as them either beating LH, or at least getting 2 maps off of them.

I consider this a long shot, not impossible, but IMO improbable.

posted about 6 years ago

Not gonna lie, if groups were more balanced, looking at you group C, they probably would have made it out of groups somewhat easily. Having to beat KDP and LH is a really big ask.

posted about 6 years ago

I'll have to agree, even though I want as any western teams to make it out.

posted about 6 years ago

That's an odd comment but you might just get your wish granted in their next match. Do note that they haven't lost in a while because the NA region hasn't been able to adapt to the combination of their play style + individual skills.

I don't think the same can be said at APEX, but again, your comment is odd, since they just haven't had that much competition save for a couple of teams.
