Almost unfair for Seoul. The bracket shouldn't be re-seeded for semi's. But if Seoul can beat the 2 best teams in Stage 1 then props to Tobi and Jehong for their redemption.

I don't get why the bracket is seeded this way. This would make 1st seeded team to meet the 2nd seeded team in semi final. Isn't most other sports tournament seeded like below?:
1st/8th --┐
4th/5th --┘ㅡㅡㅡ┐
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀┠
3rd/6th --┐ㅡㅡㅡ┘
2nd/7th--┘

I'm actually OK with reseeding when the previous qualifier was so short with different teams having largely varying degrees of strength of schedule.

If initial seeding was based off of more games then reseeding wouldnt make as much sense, imo.

Agree, with such a small sample size, whatever kind of seeding would have been "eh".

Then again Dynasty intesifies and matters even less. :D

p.s. nope I'm not a Dynasty fanboy, but being a grumpy EU guy I love redemption arcs and underdogs!

Oh, I see. I did not know that they re-seeded after the match was completed. I thought they had the bracket set up so that the winner of NYXL/Seoul will compete with the winner of Vancouver/Boston.
I missed that part because I only watched the actual match, not the whole broadcast. It makes a lot more sense now. Also, I agree with you in that this way might be better when short qualifier can be biased based on the strength of schedule.

When/where did they talk about the re-seeding? If on-stream, what segment/time; otherwise, what URL?

Edit:

Well, I guess they were always going to do the reseeding: https://twitter.com/overwatchleague/status/1108805481571778562 has the information but for some reason also a misleading tree.

They hadn't redrawn the tree after the SEO/NYXL match, but of course at that point, who would have been surprised if Boston had pulled off the upset too, which would have rearranged the tree in a DIFFERENT way.

Actually, after the BOS/VAN match, they still hadn't redrawn the tree, merely filled in the teams for the "highest vs lowest" match.

Why did they even draw it like a tree?????
