Lack of engagement on Over.gg

I know we are competing hard with Reddit and such but I'm noticing that our community seems to be lacking in engagement and sharing on content.

Curious how we can help change that besides just commenting more. How can we get more people to the site?

IMO this is the best place for keeping up with scores, streamers, rosters, and general info on anything on going or upcoming. Our events section is unmatched anywhere.

Only improvements I might like to see on the site is the inclusion of coach information on the team pages. Actually that'd be huge.
Improvements on the standings in each league or event. Like currently for OWL we just have some kinda confusing standings in the "summary" section but I think we could expand this into win streaks and power rankings and such to really make it pop. More engaging.
and a bit more in depth discussion of balance and patch changes.

Just my 2 cents because I really like the site and I want to see it doing well and drawing in other community members.

We're really not
over.gg is here to follow the Overwatch competitive scene, while Reddit is here because it is. It exists because it's what subreddits do. As much as I like /r/compow, it's just a clusterfuck.

YES PLEASE ENIGMASTER

We actually have those on the Teams section of the website.

and a bit more in depth discussion of balance and patch changes.

Usually those happen in the comments of the articles describing every patch. What I would like to have though is metagame discussion: sharing ideas to counter some comps, discussion on how to deal with some combos, strategy ideas, etc. I don't think there's anything like that anywhere. All it takes is starting a thread on the forums, and I would personally be down to discuss this kind of stuff because it's really interesting to me, so if anyone wants, go ahead!

Overall I think the website is in a really good place. Most people know that the website exists, everyone goes here for schedule, events and teams and also for the amazing news coverage our wonderful redactors give us, and the most active members regroup in a great community that is fun and great to hang out with, whether it is on the website or on Discord.

(Also this should probably have gone in "Site Discussion"?)

true about the location in the forums lol. My bad.

But yeah definitely don't get it twisted. I think the site is amazing and Enigma constantly kills it.

Just would love to see a bit more engagement and your explanation of reddit is almost exactly why. It's a cluster fuck most of the time despite being the "hub" if you will of all things Overwatch and competitive. There are tons of people that would benefit from joining the discussions over here but sometimes I swing by to see what's up and see that no one seems to be commenting on much and then I'm like eh well maybe there is more discussion elsewhere.

Tons of people would benefit from our discussions about tactics over here too. That's all over the subreddit and they always get shit answers and responses that don't help anybody.

In all honesty? This is the only source of information on Overwatch I regularly check (besides for example streams of open division teams), I've never been much into reddit, tend to turn even the best persons into sheeps, but eh.

Don't get me wrong I wish all the best for over.gg, but I'd hate for it to become more "Reddity" just to grab more people.

Even if I know how much time it would take what I'd like to see was some more infos on lower tiers (e.g., the various Open divisions), they are full of potential.

Luckily we always have poi for T3-4 infos, sei un grande poi!

If you are looking for more we also have two extremely active discord servers, the regular one https://discord.gg/yU7crSy and one for finding awesome people from the site to play with https://discord.gg/qw2E95b.

We pretty much talk all day on there and have tons of in depth conversations about pretty much everything. During OWL and other matches we are also talking about the games in the #tournament-talk channel.

Agreed! I love the Discord, and it's not even something I really ever post in. There's a lot of great and interesting conversation happening on there all the time.

It has to be expected that once the Overwatch League site arrived a lot of “common-folk” would stop using this site for the official one, but the real, important members are still here. I think the site is actually thriving with all of Enigma’s updates, and like dark said, our discord’s are popping.

How can we get more people to the site? An inbuilt dark theme!

In the past few weeks I've noticed that there has been barely any threads that weren't either matches or news. We could all probably be a bit more proactive in getting the conversations going. For example I've not seen an introduction thread around in forever where we get to know eachother better: pre-OWL we had plenty of things like that on the go.

Like has been said above I'd hate to see here get more reddity, theres a reason why I browse here every day and Reddit once a week
