how does it work?
literally everyone of Fuel saying custa did a good job leading the team but how the fuck come he s getting traded then?
do players even have a say in this or is it the big boss that has the script that says what players are going to get traded, sold or even released?

this league seems like a big joke to me already. cs, dota even the league community is laughing at OWL because they fine people using emotes and show a finger to the camera. There's some shady stuff happening in the background and we don't know it that's my guess. Maybe the coaches are involved, but players for sure ain't
they force OWL to be a top E-sport that will be broadcasted on nationwide TV that will replace NFL, NBA one day way too much.

also this seems pretty funny hhaa

correct me if I'm wrong but several players said they have no influence on what players will join or leave the team its mainly a management coaching decision.

no, players have no influence on where/when/to whom they are traded, which is not that weird and is normal in other esports but its true that management is much more involved than in other esports and more decisions are made at the "top"

Valiant went to KYKY requesting Custa for Unkoe and KYKY asked Custa if he wanted to go. This is according to Custa's stream

There’s a lot of things that happen behind the scenes that aren’t released to the public- players transferring to teams doesn’t always have to do with how well they were performing. Try not to make too many assumptions since we don’t always know exactly what goes in to every decision.

Isn't that the entire point of a forum though, to discuss shit? how many discussions would you see on any forum if you could only discuss something you had complete knowledge on? saying stuff like that is fucking retarded in all honesty and it's the type of shit you see when someone moans about football and one sperg comes in and says "but you don't play football at that level so you can't talk about it".

People will always make assumptions based on news, if you don't like that maybe stay away from anything discussion related or just copy and paste that into every single topic created on every single forum throughout the world. I honestly don't understand people like you that try and put a halt to discussions and debates like this I really don't.

Also extremely ironic coming from a guy who made assumptions regarding OWL without having a clue about the matter, I do love a bit of irony.

I missed you.

If you read carefully, you’ll notice that I never said anything about halting the discussion- I’m all for it! Rather, I was warning not to make rash assumptions about the team and how ‘they’re throwing’ by removing Custa, especially since we don’t know the ins n outs (no pun intended) of the roster and maybe some internal problems that we are unaware of.

I don’t know why you say to stay away from things discussion related- in fact, ironically, you’re usually the one who likes to transform discussions into large scale arguments rather than sitting back, swallowing your pride and letting other people express their opinions.

I didn’t make assumptions about OWL, this is about the 10th time we’ve argued about this. I had a lot of optimism for it, but I wasn’t making blind conclusions that I had no reasoning to back them up with. The only things I ‘assumed’ was that it would be successful due to its investors, scale, and mainstream approach, which I believe I ended up being mostly correct about.

Please try to contribute more to this website rather than shutting down people’s arguments just because your big mouth doesn’t agree with it.

If it's like traditional sports here in the US, than orgs can trade really without the players knowledge or input. Sometimes players spend a lot of time and resources moving to a city only to be traded months later.

There are such things as "bad trades", which if it is ultimately comes down to perspective on a subject.

The only justification that I can believe on the end of Dallas is that they want HarryHook back in to shotcall, but that doesn't make much sense, since Custa does that was shown to have the most positive impact on the in-game atmosphere overall, but there's not really anything to compare that too since we (the public) don't have access to their scrim/full match comms. Unless Dallas and their management are really doubling down and having the team build itself up with a stable roster that's going to start most games and so that they can focus on more important things, like the team they're facing and what they're likely going to run and prepare. These things are what OWL teams need to be focused on doing, not figuring out who is going to be in the next batch of contestants on musical chairs with the Fuel.

As far as the Valiant, the reports that uNKOE isn't helping the team atmosphere is a good justification, as team atmosphere is equally as important in a team as the players itself, but knowing that Custa isn't going to be filling the Zen role that was previously occupied by uNKOE confuses me. Is KariV going to remain on support ? What about Verbo? Is there still going to be a language barrier between the Koreans in the team and the non-Korean speaking players? I personally don't keep up with LAV that much but to my knowledge these questions haven't been answered that clearly, and I guess from my perception of the matter, the LAV staff don't entirely know that answer yet either. Custa will certainly bring a positive environment if he's shotcalling, but will likely come at the expense of Verbo's playtime.

I know it's nerd writings and there are almost always always more questions than answers but sometimes there is more than meets the eye with trades like these. There are more moving parts than just "one player in and another player out".

Thank you. Exactly what I was trying to say with my comment, there's a lot that goes on behind the scenes that could play huge factors into decisions.

Trading in sports is extremely complicated and happens for tons of a reasons. Usually all parties have a say in the process but if the GM wants to trade you and you don't have a no trade clause in your contract, he can do what he'd like. Here are some of the top reasons you might get traded.

  1. The player is not happy or their teammates are not happy. Either with contracts or environments or anything.

  2. Sometimes, money is involved too. Maybe a player 1 wants x amount of money and player 2 wants y amount of money and while they'd like both players they prefer 2 and can't afford both so they trade 1 and pick up a cheaper player in the same role. I don't know OWLs rules on finances but this happens CONSTANTLY in every major sport. It's why superstars move homes sometimes because teams can't afford two of them and make salary cap.

  3. Another team (LAV) is offering up a player like Unkoe and the pairing of Unkoe and AKM seems like a no brainer. They have established synergy and maybe the only player they could agree on trading for Unkoe was Custa even if maybe they would've rather traded HarryHook or Chips.

  4. Releasing Envy or trading Rascal was to free up roster spots in places that they didn't agree with or need the players. London just didn't need him. Why would you ever start him over Birdring or Profit? Now they can fill that spot with something else they'd like. They have room to improve in both flex and support roles so maybe they were looking to fill those spots.

  5. Most importantly is to improve chemistry. Some players just don't gel but they're still good and other teams have players in the same position. Might as well trade em and see if you can find the missing ingredient.
