This is the Reddit thread:

He's currently in a duo Q with Gambler talking about it. Apparently he was released at 4:00 am. One of the comments mention him thinking about going back to LoL but I have no clue as I don't understand Korean

This is Gambler's stream:

That I don't know, but if he can pull a Kariv they'll be touted as geniuses.

They also linked his twitter, check the bio:

It seems to be causing quite the uproar in Gambler's stream.

Why the uproar ? They "Just" release Luna no?

Not sure what you mean by "why", I'm assuming twitch chat is surprised and/or shocked. More information is bound to come out later in the day but it seems like this was unexpected.

Yeah it's surprising but we might have predicted this, when Mano joined, LWB try to compete against LH so they might as well change more players to create a Dream Team

Right but our reaction has nothing to do with his fan's reaction.

No please Mano stay healthy
And Pine was good on Ana During their 2nd match against Conbox . But we will have to see the official announcement

That would be one heck of an LWB curse. Seriously though, if Pine turns out to be a ResidentSleeper, S Rank, Kariv 2.0 Support they might just have something pretty nutty in terms of triple DPS single support, triple DPS single tank or even the usual 2-2-2.

A lot more flexibility..if that turns out to be the plan.

Luna and Who were released from LW on the final day for APEX teams to submit their roster to OGN. So they couldn't have any chance to find new teams. This is not fair. I guess LW made a terrible mistake on this. I just want to know who is behind this strange decision.

#14

Then that's extremely unfortunate. I'm sure there are APEX teams that would have loved to pick up Luna and Who. Strange decision and absolutely horrible timing.

That makes me quite sad then.

TISrobin311 posted a translation of Luna's Facebook about this. Now I'm sad and really pissed. Note that we only have his side of the story currently, but this looks like such a shit move by LW.

He seems extremely upset and is venting his frustrations, understandably so because it looks like he really got blindsided by this.

What made Luna feel worse and more upset is that his father was coming from his hometown to Seoul to see him without knowing his son got fired on that day. He was left alone in the LW gaming house waiting for his father while the rest of the team members were out to take some promotional photos for the APEX Season 4.

It is natural for professional players to find new teams and get fired at any time. But this is not the way it should be.

Really sucks to do it on the deadline day. Hopefully someone from LW comes out and explains this or they are going to lose some fans over the way they handled this.

The only problem here is that it's right before the end of the deadline so it's hard for him to find a new team but if the team found a better healer that they want to play with then they should play with that healer. Luna has a right to be upset but it's not like LW is an evil org or anything.

You got the wrong point here. People are criticizing LW not because they released Luna but because they didn't give him an advance notice or whatever so that he could have a chance to find a new team. There might be some issues between the team and the player that we would never know but it is neither a professional nor a desirable way for a team to release its players who have been committed to the team for the past year.

They should be called LuxuryWatch Snakes instead of LuxuryWatch Blue.

LWB fucked up you can't release a player at the deadline with out telling him before hand now he must wait a whole season because all the roster is already decided. It's really unprofessional they should have bench him.

#25

Agreed, though I'm assuming they didn't keep him on the bench for lack of funding. I just wished he would have had a chance to find himself a new home, which he undoubtedly would have.

This is seriously heartbreaking. I feel so sad for both of them, being unable to do anything during the length of APEX unless they find a western team to pick them up. I hope they bounce back soon!

Yup, it really sucks that he didn't see it coming. I don't know how long the org new they were going to actually replace him but it feels very misleading because of the timing.

I don't know what the roster rules for the Open Division teams is but I wonder what he'd do if he could at least get a go at one of those until he gets a better opportunity.

Might be some good news for Luna after this roller coaster, KongDoo might be offering him a trial. I don't know how that works with APEX and what not.

The gift that keeps on giving TISrobin311 has graced us with yet another translation this time about what the former coach of LWB had to say about judging players by statistics.

New post on Luna's facebook:
http://m.inven.co.kr/board/powerbbs.php?come_idx=4538&bestissue=1&l=2925343

My translation:
"I believe that I was released from the team as a revenge. I remember the coach and the manager said they should give 1-month advance notice to release players. So I cannot understand why I was informed and released from the team on the same day. And I have a lot of bullets."

I believe he meant with the last sentence that he was ready to defend himself against any argument to be made by the team.

Redditor IImaginer also commented that "Mano transfered again within days LOL", but I haven't seen any other reports of that so I'm not taking it at face value.

As mentioned in this thread:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Competitiveoverwatch/comments/6sl4ub/update_to_luna_incident/

This looks like it could be a PR nightmare depending on what which road Luna or the LW Org decide to take.

Official announcement from Team LW's manager:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Competitiveoverwatch/comments/6ss8iu/team_lw_official_announcement_re_luna_who/

In short, he is stating that the main reason for the release was their performance. LW Blue apparently suffered 15 straight losses in scrims with Luna, and they seemed to perform better with Pine in Luna's place. The manager wanted to give them some money in gratitude for their hard work, but since the team is supported by his personal funds, he had to wait for extra funds to become handy. And he seems to be saying this is part of why the release got delayed.

I think he is just making up excuses. He could've told them earlier at least, so that they would have had enough time to look for other teams.

Even worst is that they didn't lose 15 matches in a row. They lost 15 maps, still not good, but worlds apart from what most people would take away from that comment.

Looking at the official team roster they look to have recruited another support, possibly for the bench. On top of that he also mentioned that another reason they couldn't tell him was that they were busy with the OWC and the new team house.

I understand that they are on hard time right now, but it's no reason to not give Luna proper notice for something of this magnitude.

Really? It was 15 maps? Not matches?

Some are now making fun of LW Blue as ilbe Blue. Ilbe is an online community with extreme right political view. It is so extreme and often involve violent language, especially toward certain political figures, regions, and women.
Jjonak, the player recruited in place of Luna, is a controversial player as he is known to be part of ilbe community. Flow3r and Pine were also associated with ilbe in the past, but they publicly apologized for it and said that they would never be part of it anymore. But with Jjonak joining by kicking out two players who are from Gwangju (which is the region despised by ilbe), this controversy is being raised again.
Although I do not think this had anything to do with Luna and Who being released, but Jjonak joining the LW will further damage the reputation of LW for sure.

Yeah, Gambler chimed in to say that the coach's comments were vague and clarified that it was maps/rounds and not matches.

Wow, I didn't know about the ilbe Blue controversy! It's unfortunate, because they managed to get Mano and this whole thing could mess it up for him.
