Since r/cow is in perptual denial of OW's clear decline, I thought I'd get a get a discussion going here.

The numbers don't lie; viewership is down, general activity is down (reddit, this site, etc, etc), and the playerbase is down. Sorry I'm not really much room for debate, but I really just wanted to vent about the sad state of affairs Blizzard has led us to.

It's ultimately not really growing, so at this stage stagnation may as well mean death.

Shame to not see more of him.

We all know the moves that have already been made, but what sort of swaps/pickups would you guys like to see?

He was in 34 of their games unless I miscounted (according to https://www.over.gg/player/matches/1812/asher), but only two were from this year.

DongSu's dismissal leaves the Valiant with no Korean coaches, despite five of the team's nine players coming from South Korea.

Doesn't look good.

The reality of the situation is that Overwatch is an aging game facing an onslaught of FotM BR games. These circumstances demand more investment from Blizzard, not less, for the Overwatch professional and semi-professional scene to be even remotely attractive to aspiring players.

I'm personally a bit concerned for Valiant's DPS lineup. Bunny's a beast but neither Agilities nor KSF have impressed, at least in S1. If anyone still needs to make moves it's them.

I think part of is the difference between how Valve and Blizzard structure their respective esports scenes. There's a ton of variety in majors/tournaments in CSGO that require a site like HLTV to easily follow the scene, whereas Overwatch has just... OWL pretty much (which happens to have a half year offseason for some reason).

Most of this seems spot on except iddqd somehow staying. Mechanically he's great but so are Danteh/Babybay/Sinatraa, so I don't see a reason why he'd ever get playtime over his "smarter" teammates.
