Davin and Clockwork are about the same, personally i think cw is better, but either way it makes much more sense because Clockwork has proven chemistry with Muma coolmatt etc., and clock's other heroes like mcree are better than davin's.. Any of the maps the outlaws lost with clock playing were because of Linkzr and Mendo on pharah imo, it should be jake in there but then again it is preseason.

London is obviously directing almost all of their resources to shut down Babybay, SF needs a hard carry from Danteh but that is such a tough ask

I think these are the two best tank duos in OWL going head to head in this matchup; Coolmatt and Muma v. Miro and Zunba I am hype to say the least.. Go Outlaws!

I agree I think an Eileen addition could make the Dragons have the best DPS duo in the league potentially, with a solid amount of flexibility, but I will say I think they are limited because I’m not a huge fan of the remaining players like altering or MG, I think Lateyoung would elevate this team as well

Even though many say that the lack of true flex tank player or projectile player isn't a problem for the Shock I am still skeptical and really curious to see how well they perform

Solid squad, one of the best supports duos in the league

No idea what to expect with this one.. I hope its as good of a match as it is on paper- I've been itching for some quality competitive

posted about 6 years ago

Not even the best team from Europe, going to OWL with only the same 6 players and a new meta since Contenders... There doesn’t seem like a whole lot of upside to the Mayhem until they are given more resources

This puts into perspective what he did, but it certainly doesn’t excuse it, I think the punishment should have at least been thru the entirety of S1. Ultimately tho I think people deserve second chances and he should be allowed to come back from it. There is a history of some esports players using aimbots like babybay I think? And he has come back from it and things are fine and dandy so hopefully this is the end of the line for cheating in overwatch (jk will definitely not be the last)

Ya this is definitely intentional I loled at “didn’t know if he would face suspension”

Well first, calm down lol. Second idk why you are so hung up on no EU NA crossover, seems like a pretty minor issue. Blizzard has been deliberate with its promotion of tournaments, I don’t recall any espn articles on Contenders, or any in game promotion, but they chose to for the World Cup. They’re obviously trying to stir hype at the right time, which I think is their biggest risk actually. I also don’t think a lot of tournaments translate to the viewership they want, im guessing they want many more mainstream viewers, and to them a saturation of a lot of games won’t automatically keep them around if they don’t mean much. That’s why I think OWL has too many matches as well

posted about 6 years ago

I think you guys are thinking too short term. They have a pretty ambitious vision for Overwatch. There is a decent chance for failure, but let’s say hypothetically 10 years from now the OWL, Contenders and open division are successful and larger, no one will even care that the monthly melee existed, 1 year of mediocre competitive play is a blip on the radar compared to what they want to achieve. If blizzards esports scene is going to be as big as they want it to be, they have to make large moves like this that could pay off or not. I think they proved they can build hype and market esports at the OWWC this year, and I think the branding and presentation to the OWL is mostly really well done. I’m optimistic

posted about 6 years ago

I’m not a fan of the move either but I see the potential of making Apex Contenders. I don’t see blizzard as greedy hoarders who don’t care about esports. I think they handle ranked overwatch horrendously, but as far as esports go I think it’s mostly been really good considering the big picture of 10 years or more as well

-United States vs South Korea, World Cup 2017 - South Korea dominant US looks to upset with the home crowd on their side

-Rogue vs. EnvyUs , Atlantic Showdown 2016, Rogue breaks an insanely long EnvyUs winning streak in a cool series where now famous DPS players TViQ and AKM pop off

-Lunatic Hai vs. Kongdoo Panthera, Apex Season 3 Grand final 2017, two Korean teams, also at the time known as the two best teams in the world are in a slugfest of the most esteemed consistent tournament we have seen in the the pre- Overwatch league era, Lunatic Hai has some of the most famous players (Ryujehong, Zumba etc.) in the game who will be a part of the projected number one team in the Overwatch league Seoul Dynasty.

That should be a good baseline- happy thanksgiving!

To me it has to be considered a major. The top teams in the OWWC would beat the majority of established teams in the world

Ima be honest this was a little ridiculous lmaoo I couldn’t stop thinking of ID hunting down white walkers

posted about 6 years ago

Uh I can confidently say xqc being a meanie is not the problem with ranked overwatch, maybe it’s the fact the game is often decided before the hero select screen

Adam. Insane value from every aspect and best player not in OWL imo

Mid season signings? More slots for teams once the league expands after season 1? Saying blizzard doesn’t care is kind of unfair considering they haven’t made the announcement for Contenders yet

Realistically there is only so much you can do to help spectating Overwatch, it is such a chaotic game by nature that it seems impossible to make an ideal spectating experience. The chaos and team play however is a reason why I enjoy watching the game

posted about 6 years ago

I think the only thing that is certain is that the top 4/5 predicted teams (Koreans + Fuel) are proven to be good teams, everything else seems so random that I don't know how anyone can say confidently and definitively place people as last given some of the reasons you stated plus meta changes

I believe this can give you an idea for who will be participating as of now, I assume there will be plenty more https://battlefy.com/noukky/hulktastic-cup/5a03c98141a16203474dadf3/participants

even Melty is in there poggers

posted about 6 years ago

I wonder if there will be any presence of 3rd party tournaments in NA/EU that would allow teams from all tiers to mix, although I think it would be tough for OWL teams to participate given I don't know what their contract with the league would allow, and it seems they will already be playing a ton of matches.

His impact and influence on Overwatch exports went way beyond just a player, and he will be missed. RIP

posted about 6 years ago

True, but I think the success of Conteders solely lies on the trickle down effect of OWL. In an ideal situation I think Contenders is a direct farm system to OWL, like for instance Envyus having a Contenders team they can pick from, similar to Major and minor league in baseball or Lunatic Hai 1/2, remember Contenders does not have to be super profitable to be successful, there just needs to be enough incentive for talented players to stick around

posted about 6 years ago

Blizzard has come through with the majority of their promises. The talent and framework for a tier 2/3 scene will be there, whats left is marketing and viewership it seems so I am optimistic Blizzard will come through based on the nice work with OWL and OWWC as of late

posted about 6 years ago

I agree with you, but my point was more to defend the teams that are getting written off as having no chance, which is why I am excited for OWL- to see what players can do when given the opportunity because so much is unknown. Should be a lot of fun!
