I'm just gonna say it, loud and clear.

IF YOU PLAY IN ANOTHER REGION, YOU SHOULD EXPECT TO PLAY "IN" THAT REGION. YOU SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO FORCE YOUR SERVERS IN ANOTHER REGION'S OPEN DIVISION. THERE SHOULD BE A COST TO CHOOSING TO PLAY IN A REGION THAT ISN'T YOURS. IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH IT, PLAY IN YOUR REGION.

The little Rascal. That Gesture has cause a Fissure in my family. I was checking on my son, or as he calls it, sticking my NUS in his business. I just wanted to get Closer to him, but I saw him watching that when he flipped the Birdring. I was full of Fury! Things escalated, and turns out, he was making a Profit of Bdosin on drugs! He said, “Woohyal to ask me about it?” Hooregulates this stream?

Props for doing the math!

Edit: I think it’s actuallly one token per hour, because people have 2 and 1.

Edit 2: actually, it’s probably per 30 minutes because some people have 12.

I didn’t have enough time to scour through for correlations, but I promised Friday. I’ll link the spreadsheet when I get back home if anyone wants to look for them.

Before we begin, we first have to acknowledge the biases. This was aimed at an OW Esports community, who stayed long enough to be interested in OWL. There will be biases in the favorite esport, sports/esports question, the mainstream question, etc. Now then, on to the data. The sample size is 502 (closed off too late).

A majority of people came from another esport, (58.6%), but it’s nearly a 50/50 split. Of those, most came from CS:GO (43%) and LoL (25.5%), with Hearthstone (23.2%), Smash (20.5%) and Starcraft 2 (18.9%) just behind. Most people started watching esports in 2016 (23.5%), 2017 in second (17.7%). Most watch OW (78.7%), then CS:GO (26.7%), then LoL (15.9%). Most people’s favorite esport is OW (79.1%). Those who don’t have OW as there favorite chose CS:GO (13.2%). Most started watching OW with GosuGamer Weeklies (13.3%), followed by OWWC 2016 (11.6%), Monthly Melees 2016 (9.6%), OWWC 2017 (9%), and APEX S2 (8.4%). OWL Inaugural Season attracted 5.2% of the sample size. Most peoples favorite tournaments so far are, in order, OWL S1 (72.1%), OWWC 2017 (45.8%), APEX S3 (34.3%), OWL S1 Preseason (33.9%), then APEX S2 (33.1%). Most preferred those specific tournaments because of their, in order, gameplay, production/casting/quality, hype, and memorable moments/games. Most are somewhat interested (43.4%) in the T2 scene. The reason most aren’t interested is because they don’t know if they have time. The reason most are interested is the quality of the talent.

Most will tune into all matches that fit their schedule (41.6%), followed by favorite team’s matches (19.3%), followed by all matches (15.7%) followed by the highest-quality match ups (9.4%). Most plan to watch all matches (28.9%), others plan to watch 2-3 matches a week (27.5%). 77.9% are more of a fan of OW esports, 19.3% didn’t change, and 1.8% are less of a fan. Likewise, 57.6% are more of a fan of esports in general, 41% didn’t change, and 1% are less of a fan.

The three main points most people thought blizzard succeeded in, in order, were production/quality, hype, and match quality/teams. Honorable mention goes to marketing, which was a second mention in most answers. Likewise, the three main points blizzard failed in were T2/T3 support, worldwide markets, and the scheduling. Honorable mention goes to the delay between the announcement and the launch/maintaining hype, just barely behind scheduling. Most thought, in order, to better the OWL, would be to add more teams, change the map pool/map rules, and change the schedule to better times for worldwide. It can be inferred that the data shows that most thought blizzard stepped it up for ensuring overall quality, and are impressed with the overall professionalism of it. Most were also impressed about how well it was marketed. On the other hand, most people thought blizzard marketed and invested too much into the NA OWL scene, and not enough into other continents and other scenes. They also may have taken a bit too long between the initial announcement and the launch, which cut down the hype. Many also want a bigger map pool, more teams, and better scheduling. It seems they struck a big nerve with EU players, so they should focus on the EU scene for next season.

The power ranks averaged out to this:

1: Seoul Dynasty (by a LOT)
2: London Spitfire
3: New York Excelsior
4: Los Angeles Valiant
5: Dallas Fuel
6: Philadelphia Fusion
7/8/9: Houston/LAG/Boston (Basically even, in fact 7/8 was even for LAG)
10: San Francisco Shock
11: Florida Mayhem
12: Shanghai Dragons (by a LOT)

For the reasoning, let me share some of the better write ups with you all.

Most people answered Pine as their favorite player (20), followed by EFFECT (19), xQc (19), and ryujehong (18). Most people’s favorite team is Dallas (27.7%), followed by NYXL (12.7%), VAL (10%), Houston (9.4%), Seoul (8.4%) and Fusion (7%). Most chose their favorite by their home team, followed by being fans of the players.

Most play on PC (83.2%), followed by Xbox (8.8%), followed by PS4 (8%). Unsurprisingly, most are plat (24.5%), followed by diamond (21.9%), followed by masters (14.7%), and gold (11.6%). Most flex (46.2%), then fill (21.3%), then fill a class (16.7%). Most choose to do those because they want to win. Most main Zen (36.5%), D.Va (26.5%), Zarya (22.1%), and Winston (21.3%). Most choose them because they are fun, after that because they are good at them. Most people dislike balance currently, and want mercy nerfs (overwhelming majority), followed by rat nerfs. Most believe the spectating changes have bettered the viewing experience as a whole.

Most are male (86.7%), female is 9.8%. There is a strong correlation between choosing 11-17 as your age and writing in attack helicopter as your gender. Most are 18-24 (52.8%), followed by 25-32 (27.3%), followed by 11-17 (15.3%). Most prefer esports (48.6%), but a very large portion like both sports and esports (41.4%). Finally, most believe esports will go mainstream in the future.

Hope you enjoyed my survey and this write-up, sorry if it seems rushed but I don’t wanna go back on my word and I’m not the best writer.
