Envy could lose this one I'm afraid if they keep their bad performance.

Did you watch the last game? It looked like they didn't have a plan at all and only got by because Taimou hit ridiculous shots and won fights he shouldn't have won as widowmaker.

MFW people minusfrag some very valid opinions because they what, disagree but can't be bothered to offer their views?

With D.Va probably not coming back full time anytime soon Envy will probably have a similar performance which honestly compared to the Envy on the D.Va patch was a car crash of a performance. Whether it was disrespect or they were clueless that first round on Nepal was really a disaster you don't expect.

All through the other maps their ult usage was a bit of a mess with gravitons getting lost or not having as many high value plays as they had been having. They literally had Taimou save the game for them but even then he looked unsure to be picking Widowmaker a few times and chose it as a last resort. Overlooking this is just silly.

Hopefully that was just new patch shakes and we'll see them come back in full force with the old Envy co-ordination we're used to seeing but anybody that thinks their last game went well for them has deluded themselves.

I didn't minus frag but I'll bite.

Whether it was disrespect or they were clueless that first round on Nepal was really a disaster you don't expect.

The first round was just a bad comp pick from Envy. Even Taimou points it out in his review. Sometimes you pick the wrong play: http://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/s--60BxHW7h--/c_fit,fl_progressive,q_80,w_636/n6d2zx9kxkyuoktyogku.gif
They were at least smart enough to make changes quickly but had they come out with a better comp from the start it would've been completely different. Just look at round 2 and 3. Maybe you're the one who is clueless if you think D.Va getting nerfed hurt Envy THAT bad.

They literally had Taimou save the game for them but even then he looked unsure to be picking Widowmaker a few times and chose it as a last resort. Overlooking this is just silly.

Taimou wasn't "unsure." He picked it because he was, and I quote, "feeling it." Also there is a difference between winning the game before they enemy team can even cap the last checkpoint and "literally" saving the game. Even if they got rolled there(on second point mind you so there is an opportunity to hold last), Envy had already finished the map with a minute in time bank. If they didn't lose the tele on first point they probably would've full held BK there. Even IF Tamiou died to that tracer on second, Harry killed the genji and then lucio. On the push for second point with about 30 seconds left Mickey was moving into position for a grav up top and they could've won the game there but the rest of the team backed up which forced a weird fight and cost them second point. So you're right about the ult mess. However It was Cocco's earth shatter that won their first defense on last (but you didn't see because cameraman on bk's tracer) and it was a combo Tamiou flash\Cocco charge that won them the last d. It's not like Envy was getting their shit pushed in and then Tamiou swooped in with his cape on to stop them (granted that flashbang was dope and might have saved the day so Cocco didn't get shattered but one could argue that he easily could've have just been zarya shielded and he wouldn't have needed the flash anyway).

anybody that thinks their last game went well for them has deluded themselves.

Winning a match 3-1, call me deluded - https://media.giphy.com/media/l3q2W1wpUiFf8yXdu/source.gif

If anyone wants judgement as to how nV did in the previous game, have a look at Taimou's VOD review of their game and decide for yourselves. Do note though that it's only semi-serious from stream and most likely left out some further explanation that he could have done, but should still provide sufficient context. It's not their top performance but I wouldn't say they did that badly. Anyway let's not derail this any further since this is for the upcoming match, not the previous game.

I don't think anyone can say for certain that nV would have difficulty in this match purely based on just the previous one. Would also like to comment that most spectators wouldn't be able to tell what underlying coordination and individual decision making goes on in games, especially by nV for several reasons, so don't get too quick to judge base on face value.

Anyway, hope it'll be another exciting game to watch :)

Taimou's personal vod review really shows they are not clueless. They fully know what worked and what didnt. They will only show up to this match better.

I kind of agree that many people are over-polarizing the new "weaknesses" of Envy's current roster in the newest meta. My main concern however is their utter lack of any competent projectile DPS. Regardless of what people might think or say, this IS a problem for any competitive team.

Is Taimou going to suddenly start playing Genji/Pharah? They don't even have a reliable Tracer player so their lack of flexibility/versatility could come to bite them in the ass soon.

Personally I think Meta is going to win 3-2 because they've shown better/more consistent form. But I wouldn't be surprised if NV came out and just stomped them 3-0 either.

I can't help but wonder how they would play with a player like TviQ as an example, having HarryH back on Lucio and TviQ on DPS would also allow them to run some scary triple dps comps

so much exaggerated claims all over the web in comments/podcasts/streams about envy, everyone's entitled to their opinion but don't be surprised if there are people who are not so eager to claim the sky is falling thus not agreeing with you.

Win is a win.

I'll be rooting for envy for sure, hope it's not a stomp from either side.

Didn't quite expect this to happen but I hope that nV picks up from this and come back even stronger.

Feels like nV isn't quite confident with Volskaya B in general. I think they probably would have been better off if they stacked and waited to get all 6 ults for a huge push rather than try to win with each half push. nV's playstyle was also quite well exploited by Meta imo. A ton of good and simple boops that have huge impact on the fights, and capitalizing on how nV's method of aggression and stalling, i.e. punishing cocco whenever Mickie D.Va is off to zone. chipsajen is a god tier defensive style Ana that supports the solo-tankish style that nV relies a lot on. It's quite rare for any team to be capable of pressuring the cocco chips that quickly and that much that nV probably got driven out of their comfort zone by a fair bit.

I think as long as nV gets quicker to rotate back and take a defensive stance when necessary, they should be fine and back to their usual performance once they iron those issues out. It's definitely interesting though to see a team actually being able to capitalize on nV's weakness. Aside from that, nV should also probably take the safe route sometimes when it comes to pushing with disadvantages, though they're a strong team that can and does still win fights despite large disadvantages. Play safe until they're back in the comfort zone then do whatever they want.

It was a good (more than good?) showing by Meta for sure.

They really need a projectile player. Everyone in Envyus has great aim for sure, but I don't think anybody is so experienced in projectiles.

Also teamwork perhaps.

Blizzard's league will be interesting; maybe season 1 will just be 8 Korean teams being transplanted to American cities.

I mean the main downfall is like I wrote a few days ago. nV's ults are just pointless the majority of the time, it really looks like they don't have a game plan. And this time they went against a team that is as skilled without ultis to be able to contest nV in all the downtime.

And honestly the way Meta Athena play which is sort of either undisciplined at times or it's their plan to just go balls to the wall aggressive with ults and potentially use too many but always secure those wins and then drag out the downtime. But a team should be able to realise that and capitalise on the fact they probably only have a graviton in the downtime. The only time they managed that was when Meta blew everything on their defense of holywood and gifted a 4 ult advantage to nV with 15 seconds left to go.

I think it's time for nV to start reviewing their games and think about how to use their ults better and rely less on individual clutch plays.
