Would you rather have hero limit or not?

Inspired by the 1 hero limit rule in the GosuGamers tournament yesterday, I'd like to hear what your thoughts are on the subject. How should competitive Overwatch be played? Should a Goggles and Glasses strategy be possible?

Yes but doubt blizzard will force it.

Yes, hero limit of 1.

Blizzard isn't Valve, they will (and have in the past) make balance changes to discourage this stuff. Class limits were only a necessity in TF2 due to Valve's ineptitude and I think people should give Blizzard some time to showcase their dedication to the game, even if it means sometimes being stuck in kind of lame metas for a bit, but that happens in every other big competitive video game too now and then.

Not that it matters because in a month or two they'll drop their official ruleset and everyone will use that no matter what, but still...and there's no chance they will class limit 1 because that would a) be against everything they've said about this game and b) just re-spark one of the myriad of issues which in the long term hurt competitive TF2's success - the big rule changes from the pub game.

While I think a hero limit is welcome to avoid some overpowered compositions, I have to agree with DarkNecrid that Blizzard will never accept this as their official rule set. Enjoy creating compositions and strategies for this rule while you can.

Not sure yet on this topic. Some of the stacks are really entertaining to play and to try to figure out how to beat.Few of my favorites are the twin-stons, 2 Lucios (1 speed/1heal; communication on ulti timings), etc. [Twin-stons] But almost requires your team to pull out a reaper and consider pulling out your widow unless he/she can consistently hit headshots with the team concentrating on protecting widow, or at least distracting winstons, etc etc.

However, almost always it requires your team to double in some form or fashion to counter. So atm I would lean more towards 1 hero limit.

Absolutely not. Even if class limits fit the flow and balance of the game better now, it doesn't account for future hero and meta-game changes and will stagnate this competitive scene faster than TF2. Blizzard doesn't want hero limits in pubs or ranked play, and tournaments (looking at gosugamers especially) should do the same if they really care about Overwatch becoming an e-sport. Perhaps hero bans would be a welcome middle-ground that could be featured in ranked play.

I'd rather just see Blizzard attempt to balance the no limits game first.

I think with the way the game is right now one hero limit is good, but it really hurts the strategic diversity of the game. It feels like alot of heroes are set in stone (alot more than double hero limit).

Hero limits would be an easy short-term fix to some of the current powerful team compositions but it's far too early to definitively call them "necessary". Blizzard still have a chance to try and balance the game around no hero limits and they should absolutely take that chance before jumping to extremes.

If we were a year or two and umpteen balance patches into official release and there were still problems with class-stacking cheese dominating the high-level meta, I'd be more inclined to agree with class limits being potentially needed. As it is, we're less than a month and zero balance patches into official release. There's no need to damn Blizzard's ability to balance the game they've presented to us this quickly.

With only 21 heroes, no. But increase that number, and there's more than enough room for it. some metas in this game have been defined by running 2/2/2's. If this game gets up to a hero number worthy of big MOBA's, 1 of each class would be nice.

You see legitimately more interesting games with a 1 hero limit compared to the old 2/2/2 meta. With more heros added it will become increasingly more interesting and varied in comparison to a no hero limit meta.

The most depressing thing to realize is that you're team lost to Noah's ark strats because you where too prideful to do the same
