I'm looking forward to see if either team can bounce back their Contenders run and how Arc6 does on top because of the roster change.

Did they officially announce they disband? I may have missed it but I haven't seen it yet.

Rogue getting to dust off their tournament gear after taking a break since TakeOver and almost not getting to play in this one.

I do hope Tempo can put up a solid fight but I'm not convinced they will...maybe I'll be proven wrong...maybe not.

In the end I think this will be a clean win for Rogue:

Rogue 3-0 Tempo

RIP EG, I'm assuming they go back to being East Wind for a while.

Flags are broken again, correct flag meta and positioning was key in IMT's contenders win. It was proven by very scientific science.

  • They fixed it, IMT's victory has now been assured, as mentioned this is backed up by credible and very real science. The science of properly coordinated flags meta.

GC Busan looking like they're regaining their first phase form and they managed to need one less map to get the win compared to last time as well.

Interesting to see how Sombra is being used on map phases that would normally not be considered good for her. With...varying degrees of success..or failure.

Looks like Ginger's going to be the main shotcaller though. I wonder if Custa would have also been a good fit in that role, in any case I hope this turns out to be a good thing since they're up against C9 first thing this weekend.

posted about 6 years ago

I'm not convinced that Ginger is an upgrade over Dahun and I don't remember how good Custa was.. .but I hope this works out for them.

We'll get to see it pretty soon at Beat as they face C9 in their first match.

AFR looked out of sorts in this one, even with ma boi TyDolla flexing to D.Va. Another match where the team that lost in the previous phase looked much much more prepared, winning the last two maps of the series in a very convincing manner.

With just two matches left AFR looks like they are all but guaranteed to drop out of this group phase.

Less than 24hrs? HYPE!!!

posted about 6 years ago

LWR continues on their upswing after only losing two matches, both going to the fifth round, last phase. AFR happened to be one of those teams but this time around they looked ultra prepared not even dropping a map.

posted about 6 years ago

This was the battle of the two teams that managed to squeeze their way into the 2nd group phase and ROX just looked a lot better, ma boi TyDolla's not done yet! It's still early but these two were my initial pick to drop out this round.

NC Foxes once again managed to edge out AFR but in a closer match than the last round. Interestingly enough AFR won King's Row in both matches, but NC was able to beat them on their Hybrid map pick of Numbani in a pretty convincing fashion.

NC looks like they should be able to move past this phase as well though the same may not be true for AFR if they can't get it together.

Results here were very surprising considering their last match had been so close with GC Busan taking it in 5. LWR looked very prepared for this.

IMT's 2-2-2 flag meta too stronk. I don't know hoe they compare to Rogue or nV but right now they're looking like a tier 1 team.

Solid play all tournament long, specially as of the group stages.

Fixed, thank you.

TL was able to come back in an awesome match against FNRGFE to give themselves a chance at this championship but I feel like IMT are just too strong right now. I think this will either be really close, or another "How to sweep" tutorial, I'm leaning more towards the latter but I hope I'm dead wrong and pleasantly surprised.

I give the strong edge to IMT on this one:

IMT 4-1 TL

Fixed map scores

  • I'm actually leaning more towards this being a 4-0 but I do think TL might be able to get one map to avoid the sweep.

Absolutely epic match. TL bringing it back for the reverse sweeep!

posted about 6 years ago

Oh shit, reverse sweep?

posted about 6 years ago

IMT absolutely crushed Kungarna, amazing to see this team improve so much in three weeks to the point of dominating to this degree.

posted about 6 years ago

I think this will be IMT vs TL with IMT taking it all. Let's see how things go down.

posted about 6 years ago

IMT are looking scary AF right now.

posted about 6 years ago

I think RNG should take this but I can see EnVision winning if the former hasn't recovered from their loss..

RNG for the win.

Though I do feel like this match has a very high chance for an upset.

posted about 6 years ago

Both teams are on the upswing but I feel like TL has looked stronger during the groups to get here. This really could go either way but i'm giving this one to TL.

Mandatory and probably incorrect complementary map score:

FNRGFE 2-3 TL

Teams need to get a Scottish flag, haven't seen many, if any, of those around...

posted about 6 years ago

I'm guessing that they'll eventually get that 2nd roster going.

posted about 6 years ago

FaZe in control, might be able to pull off what I'd call somewhat of an upset.

posted about 6 years ago

Very good match, looks like the RNG curse of loosing steam as the tournament goes on is still alive an well. Mad props to FNRGFE for coming out on to here and guaranteeing their Contenders Season 1 spot.

posted about 6 years ago

This is looking good. Kungarna has been looking like a...wait for...Contender. YEEAAAHHH!!! Eh herm, sorry. Kungarna was able to handle LGE but IMT is, in my opinion, the team of the hour in this tournament so I give them the edge in this match.

I think IMT will win but map score I gots no clue about:

Immortals 3-1 Kungarna

posted about 6 years ago

Kungarna's still going strong, we'll get to see how they measure up against what I'd arguably call the strongest looking team in this tournament in IMT.

posted about 6 years ago

Would have like to see this game. Leaves me wondering if it was at least somewhat closer than the score shows. In any case IMT have officially qualified for contenders, gratz to them!

eUnited finally gets to be the bride instead of the bridesmaid. Looking at their playoffs map score and the 2nd week of group they just killed everything with fire and proved that they are the current top dogs of EU. Not to take anything away from their opponents, specially 123 who popped out of no where and shook up the scene much like Moviestar Riders did before them.

Season 1 is looking good and hopefully most, if not all, of these teams manage to stay strong together.

posted about 6 years ago

Not sure I agree with that, for one Rogue more than likely would have crushed that one game requirement making it a moot point, and I think nV would have done just the same with what they've been showing us at APEX.

Also, how would you even have it happen logistically? Both were supposed to be in Korea at the time so they would have been on 200-300 ping.

The teams that don't make it would probably have not made it past any of those two, imo.

posted about 6 years ago

I hope his "interesting opportunities" let him stick it to the team kind of like FNRGFE did to their respective teams by making it into the playoffs and having a chance to qualify for Contenders Season 1.

posted about 6 years ago

The headline itself deserves like 10 frags imo.

posted about 6 years ago

eUnited absolutely coming up huge. Pretty much showed that they can adjust and execute even against unknown quantities.

Solid performance, no longer are they stuck at "forever 2nd place finishers".

posted about 6 years ago

When you're not having any fun playing a game it's probably time to move on as he did. I hope the rest of Rise find themselves team to play for and that Locke finds success in the next chapter of his life.

posted about 6 years ago

EG as FNRGFE or maybe even Arc6?

I don't feel like they'd be looking for a team right after dropping theirs though so I wonder what the timeline of them possibly getting back into OW would look like.

posted about 6 years ago

I think we might be seeing the turning point of this series. 123 have been amazing but I think eUnited should be able to start figuring them out.

These finals are hella something!

posted about 6 years ago

What are the chances that C9 plays in this for a spot in Contenders Season 2?

posted about 6 years ago

I'm hoping they can break the curse kind of like Lunatic Hai was able to but man, 123 are something.

posted about 6 years ago

I don't think they were known before this tournament though.

posted about 6 years ago

Fast but not totally unexpected with the lack of results and the direction most orgs in the scene have been taking lately. I do hope these guys find themselves a new home in some way, shape or form.

posted about 6 years ago

123 are amazing, really fun to see just how much pressure they're putting on the eUnited supports.

posted about 6 years ago

eUnited vs 123, the "new" vs the "old". I have no clue what to expect here, both teams have been looking better and better as the tournament's been going on.

I'm going to go with eUnited for the win only because I don't know what 123 will bring against the relatively known quantity of the former. I'm hoping for, and expecting this to be a close match.

Either way...dis gon' be gud, here's what I'm thinking:
eUnited (4-2) 123

posted about 6 years ago

Strong showing by both teams but it looks like eUnited's team play was a level above. Awesome match for sure.

posted about 6 years ago

I'm assuming #6 was applying some good ole fashion sarcasm if I read him correctly so I don't think he was bashing. No harm no foul either way though, the internet will be the internet.

posted about 6 years ago

Went all the way, nice little shake up of the EU scene, Contenders is looking even more competitive by the match!

posted about 6 years ago

Control map decider, let the frag fest begin!

posted about 6 years ago

Question is...where along will the OWL be by that time? I don't think teams like C9 will be playing in the Open Division and if OWL is underway it's going to massively change the faces you see in Contenders.

So many unknowns lol.
