I was hoping for a chess pun, like "Bishop to C9" or something like that, but I guess we all can't be as punny as Admirable.
But in all seriousness, If Bishop does do well under C9, we could see a change in NA rankings. It would be interesting to see if the team adopts more Korean strategies, play more to the NA side with just better team mindsets.

So is the team moving to NA or are they sticking to EU, but moving into a team house of some sort?

My heart particularly goes out to players from Canada, ignored in every “USA!” chant, absorbed as members of the 51st state.

To be fair, chanting "North America!" doesn't have the same gravitas as "USA!"

The aggression from b0nkers on King's Row would make Selfless jealous

Wasn't eUnited moving to NA, Or are they waiting until OWL has a confirmed date?

So is Nomy not playing with IMT, or is this just left over from NGE?

Casters said Sypeh was trialing with RNG #5 and #6
Sidenote: it's gonna be confusing if RNG faces NRG one day

Calvin was on GF during yesterday's stream I believe. wbg is GF's coach according to the team page

kakashi975 looks to be J3sus's Razer account as he is playing on Renegades

So this tournament has a lot of different teams from multiple countries. Granted, all of the higher teams are not involved, but it's a very unique collection of teams.

Unless Harb is gonna play Hog exclusively or Seagull won't go flex (which is possible), he may not join NRG

So according to this article : https://gamurs.com/articles/ghost-gaming-aquires-team-kungarnas-overwatch-roster
Ghost Gaming is a new org with only one other team (Gears of War)
Ajax has not signed with the org and will leave the team post NGE : https://twitter.com/Ajax1OW/status/824726328222089218

So there was a draw on Anubis?

So is Winghaven gonna be part of CoL in the long term, or just for this week?

posted about 7 years ago

So Winghaven is gonna be subbing in for Jkw this match according to the casters.

So just thinking long term here, I'm not sure if Renegades will continue this momentum post Winter Premiere. Mangachu being a maybe so far (though I see Renegades pushing to give him an offer) and ManOFSnow showing no signs of continuing his professional career (He has tweeted that he's transitioning to full time streaming). Worst case scenario, two really good players that have become keys for the team to me.will be gone altogether, leaving the team with very big holes to fill. If they are able to keep Mangachu, then they have a good chance of a high level NA team.

posted about 7 years ago

Any reason for this match happening today? Renegades already played.

So Hollywood and compLexity have a tenuous relationship atm. Map 3 ended in a server crash in OT.

Ube subbing in for Kryw?

posted about 7 years ago

Not gonna lie #19, Overwatch is my first real foray into esports, so most of these organizations are Greek to me.

posted about 7 years ago

So Kingdom changed their names to Renegades?
EDIT: Detroit Renegades, guess somebody's hopping on the Overwatch League early (or they're just another esports organization)

To be honest, did not expect Faze to take second, good job to them. Despite the obvious result, there were some surprising stories coming from this tournament.

posted about 7 years ago

clockwork and numlocked were signed in a meta where dps heroes were more prevalent. NRG were just unlucky with this new tank-heavy meta as a team whose cornerstones were always on those heroes. I don't expect them to pull out a win next time unless they have the confidence to use the heroes they excelled in.

Will a game be moved up, or will there be one less game today and an extra tomorrow?

posted about 7 years ago

It's part of the open groups stage of the tournament. Both Faze and Col were able to go through their bracket into the round of 8. The link for their bracket is below.
https://smash.gg/tournament/winter-premiere-open-play/events/open-play-day-2/brackets/
It's setup as this: Teams participate in a tourney in order to get into the top 8 for guaranteed points. Those top 8 then do another bracket where the winner gets a spot into the group stages, and 2-4 get more points. Once the 4 days of the stages have concluded. The winners of the 4 top 8 tourneys, as well as the 4 teams with the most points will move on. This is the reason why Kingdom, who won the top 8 yesterday, was not part of the match ticker today.

Misfits are kinda going through a trial by fire here having a little over a week to prepare (judging from when the news of the trades first broke) but a couple of them have faced LH before. To me, a big question is if this Misfits roster will still have an anti-meta mentality despite their revamped roster.

Good showing from Liquid, and great series overall. This tournament has shown some neat surprises so far.

posted about 7 years ago

I believe they'll only stream the semis and finals for the group of 8 during the open play stage.

posted about 7 years ago

It seems like Milo and Numlocked have switched roles for this match, possible permanent move.

It seems to be MLG's thing, as the COD tournament hosts a similar structure. So it may not be someone not understanding the norm but more like MLG being consistent with their events. The varied maps might be a way to showcase the game. This is MLG's first event with Overwatch, so alot of the viewers may be new to professional play. Granted, using maps like Ilios and not standards like King's Row and Hollywood may not be an accurate judge of that, but it's, for lack of a better term, baby steps.

That one German flag on the Rouge roster will plague me. You had ONE JOB, Rouge! ONE!

Dang, from the Gosu rankings list, 4 of the 5 top teams have now revamped their rosters.

A different bug (mei was not involved, my mistake) happened again on Hollywood, game will be finished off stream.

posted about 7 years ago

The bug strikes again! Mei Lucio ult combo crashes the first game of Eichenwalde

posted about 7 years ago

The stream has concluded, they have officially stated that some games have been either pushed to tomorrow, or will be played off stream. I believe the Group B winners/losers match will be on the docket for tomorrow.

Good lord, this game will last forever!

So in the ongoing saga of names, TRULLI has changed backed to IID. Not sure why.

posted about 7 years ago

So is this the first instance of a NA/EU team recruiting an Asian player? I know it's a sub but I can't think of any similar case.

posted about 7 years ago

In case anyone's confused, Numbani ended in a tie.

posted about 7 years ago

When did the Luminosity team move?

posted about 7 years ago

Hollywood was a tie, score remains Faze 2-1. I believe they will revisit the map should C9 win Gibraltar
