Probably because how he behaved in the past, which I think refelected in his gameplay style slightly. Whilst being very good, he was making the same kind of mistakes over and over again. But I think he's transformed since the start of this season, especially since the Stage 1 Final loss. The mistakes he does make right now, I don't really attribute to the kind of ones he made in the past, and like you said he seems to be positive force in comms currently. You can't hate on that at all.

God damn, I love me some Chengdu in the morning, even if I have to see the EU boys get rolled.

I'm so happy for all the guys without a OWL Contract, they showed the decision makers why they should pick them all up.

Great to see Profit and Birdring popping off, it was the kind of stuff I imagined them doing as a duo when they announced the squad

Bloody hell I went a for a pint (6) after the Hurricane match, NA Contenders is already over and now it's the show match.

Yeah, they do have that going for them, haha.

The bit following is TL;DR material, but in short I agree and I'll just say pretty much everything you said with an added point of Gesture needing a consistent team lineup.

Every position they always have the best (supports are undisputable), or at least top 2/3 in every position. Libero is number 1 right now in his position, based off the last few weeks. You can make a argument for Tracer since that's close but SSB is king until otherwise. Tanks wise, apart from Fissure doing Fissure things you wouldn't pick anyone else over Meko or Mano right now. Gesture needs to play with a consistent team. Can't keep changing supports and offtank all the time, doesn't help him at all I can imagine.

Anyway!

I love how NYXL that they always emphasise that they concentrate on themselves as well as the opponent. Barring that one Fusion game in Stage 1, which they readily admitted.

Some teams like London tonight, and other teams have done in the past is concentrate on their opponents too much rather than their own game. London seem to think that they can cover all bases with their squad, not evaluate themselves properly and just split the team based whoever they are playing and prepare.

Their doesn't seem to be a real London style, they can do it all but their plays never looked like it had their stamp on it. I never felt they've mastered a comp, even if some of their players are in conversation for Top 3 in their positions and heroes for various comps. They were good enough to beat most teams but some teams are getting better and it's not good enough against NYXL. Maybe having so many players, changing them around all the time and how they prepare is stopping them forging a team identity.

This tangent is kind of related but kind of not.

I like how everyone bigs up this internal scrim stuff, NYXL just seem to blow that argument out of the water all the time. I don't think it's that important currently. I think it works for certain situations, like drilling and extra practice etc. But I think currently, you only end up playing against yourselves if you scrim each other regularly. You play how you think other teams play. You can't truly simulate playing against another team, you are bound to mistranslate things. Even the little details are important.

Players play their heroes differently and in some cases better. For example, Fragi's Winston, Shadowburn's Genji, JJoNak's Zen and Jake's Junkrat. These guys have a style and play the hero to a level which you can't simulate.

So London were said to be intentionally playing more passive and slow style because NYXL play passive. This probably worked whilst preparing but didn't work in the match because they couldn't fully account for the extra damage coming from our lord and savior JJoNak. And they can't simulate the support line of JJoNak and ArK.

Sorry to ResidentSleeper you all, just having a drunken ramble at the dead of night.

Some variation of this which people are brainstorming on Jake's behalf on Twitter, this won't work in Twitch chat.

A very fun and scrappy game, so many "Please kill Coolmatt, please!" moments with Nesh and Danye at times across the map pool.

Great series, London didn’t deserve to get anything from that game in my opinion. Boston showed up for a brawl and London didn’t.

For sure, there’s been a couple of times where a player has been solo ulting the enemy team. Gesture did it on Ilios, Well.

London making the same mistakes, they seem to drag out engagements for too long instead of resetting. However the Boston which seemed to be missing in their last match are back.

Article from a couple of months ago, the only player to get more than 50% of his team kills in a match and he's done that twice.

I can’t remember the last time I saw a pro Numbani full hold. It seemed like most Defending teams just assumed they would lose the first fight and just carry on. London showed us how it’s done just then. Assuming that it didn’t happen yesterday, I missed most of the games because EU LUL.

I agree with you on all that also. I'm not letting them off the hook entirely, just how everything aligned for them and the team probably didn't help.

Kruise vented his frustrations on the 22nd of October around the time of his last tryout, not sure about the others. The team disbandment in the case of Eunited guys was a setback for some. They went to thinking they were in OWL to being released from their contracts fairly late into the signing window, with most teams being mostly complete by then. Found themselves in a similar situation to some of Rouge guys.

The new observer needs a few tweaks here and there, namely contrast. I can't feel too down about this UK performance, a lot of them had it rough over the last few weeks and it showed.

Being able to pick the same map twice... wat. Could be argued one way, if teams keep going to their supposed strongest maps over a series, once they enter back in the pool... could be a sign of weakness, that they are papering over the cracks and could be even worse if it bites them back in the ass?

For some slight context, Lirik uses that Barbie game frequently on Sub Sunday for games which are not listed on Twitch. But something needs to be done to promote professional Overwatch in the game itself, being able to watch official and sanctioned tournament streams in game itself is probably one of the better and simpler ways to do it, currently.
