PICK/BAN SYSTEM IN OWL?

What are everyone's thoughts on a pick/ban system in OWL (or the competitive scene in general)?

OR is it a case that the hero pool at this point remains too small, and could be a viable system with more hero choice?

Just asking because I found myself wishing I could ban Junkrat from my most recent competitive game.

Even though I don't even follow it anymore to me this shouldn't happen, you come up against a team with a phenomenal tracer and you can just ban that hero because you can? Blizzard make a change that makes widomaker good for example but fuck it, everyone just bans it? then it gets nerfed and everyone just bans the next best hero?

Honestly, for me the pick/ban shit for any game is retarded, I tried watching games like Dota 2 then noticed that phase lasts far too long, people just need to play the game and not ban something they don't have the skills to stop.

Just picked a random Dota 2 match from some Thailand minor and checked the vod, the very first pick/ban took 12 minutes, you absolute fucking spastic.

Are you the same retard that went ape shit when I made a joke about Geguri, the same guy who wishes Geguri and the boys good luck every Dragons match? honestly, do you want me to find more instances of bans taking twice as long as you suggest just to prove who is braindead even more here?

Start from 3:14 and count for 5 minutes and tell me if it's already began by then, then get fucked.

How about the pair of you both grow up and have a decent conversation regarding your difference of opinion. I imagine both of you are the kind who rage at their teammates when they lose, while being adamant it's never their fault...

Well I was trying to, answering a question as you do on a forum when he comes in with the bullshit then dishing out the insults, not much you can do when that happens is there? then again I wouldn't expect anything less from over.gg hence why I barely even post anymore but I guess my name just makes everyone nice and moist and they can't control themselves.

I don't think Overwatch has anywhere near enough heroes for pick/ban system, and I think it would hurt the game if they implemented it. One of the biggest things about the game is counter-picking your opponents, and also that different heroes are more viable on different parts of the same map. Maybe a long time in the future it could work, but it's a very different game from say, Dota 2.

In a game that is supposed to promote hero switching a pick/ban system seems out of place.
Also I personally think that pick/ban systems should be confined to MOBA's as I can see it causing problems for example: say your a team that has prepared a specific comp for a specific map only for 2 of the heroes to be banned or if a team can just ban heroes they struggle against (imagine banning tracer against Boston for example)

Perhaps if teams couldn't ban the same heroes they banned last game, then over the course of a season you might see several metas evolve over lack of certain heroes. Also clearly they can't figure out balancing so it limits some ridiculous things.

yeah like it or hate it being able to switch picks is a big part of this game. if they did a ban system it would represent a big redesign. although it would make playing pharah way better

The thread title made me really miss the pick/ban map system from pre-OWL tournaments, mainly because 2cp would just get auto-banned by both teams

Still a pick/ban system for heroes doesn't make much sense. Swapping to counter is an overall much better system and there's no reason to switch from it. If you can't counter something because you can't properly counter it, banning it does nothing productive for either party.

This, I'd say Hero ban would be bad, but really think a map ban, instead of the current fixed rotation of maps, would be better.
But I think that for the reasons mentioned by you it will never happen, Blizzard wants (rightfully) all of the maps to be played.
