Interesting news: "Television industry giant Nielsen has opened an esports division for the very first time.
Nielsen will provide "sponsorship valuation, fan insights, custom industry research and consulting services" to companies for the esports marketplace. Nielsen might be best known for its TV ratings, but it also advises multi-billion dollar clients such as Coca-Cola, CBS, Disney, or Nestlé."
""There’s a high demand for reliable, independent measurement of value in esports," says Howard Appelbaum, Nielsen Entertainment President. "We’re excited to enhance our client offerings and provide the industry with solutions that will help guide and optimize investment decisions in this exciting, growing space.""

Interesting, can't say I've heard of them but it's good to see more interest into eSports period.

They are US based, and they measure ratings, demographics, total viewers, etc for US television series.

So them making an esports division means we can get official ratings and viewers and even (eventually) comparisons to traditional TV programs.

I see, do they include data from platforms like twitch or MLG or is it just television broadcasts? I don't know what Blizz has planned for the OWL in that regard.

i also havent heard about them before but with a company that provides trustworthy statistics and that teams and investors from traditional sports know it could encourage them to invest in esport
