They may be "Pro" level gamers but most of them are still kids in several ways. Hopefully they all grow out of it sooner rather than later.

Cloud 9 aren't the childish ones. mykl and babybay have been shit talking C9 and Surefour for a while and they have never backed up the shit talk so Surefour is just dishing it back.

Regardless of who talks shit, at some point the "professional" aspect of this "sport" needs to come through if it wants to be taken seriously. The potential for scandals when you have a bunch of kids bitch slapping each other over the internet is strong and I assume that's not where the scene wants to be.

If mutual respect is too hard then shutting up is the next best thing, imo.

In boxing don't they shit talk all the time? I'm pretty sure it's used as a marketing strategy to get more people engaged in the match. So I don't think this shit talking ruins the authenticity of professionalism within Overwatch.

I personally like the whole aspect of people having beef with one another. In a way it humanizes them and makes it more relatable by showing us they're not all "Mary Sues." Now I'm not saying everyone should be a dickhead, but throw in some tyranny to make the story more interesting is my point.

I, for one, support this toxicity! Nothing brings out competition quite as well as good ol' fashioned grudge matches! This was an awesome game in my eyes :)

Pls change Gods and Surefours place on the match page so the flags go 2x2x2. It will be way more satisfying

I think it's hilarious when kungarna players talk shit and then lose. It makes everything more interesting and creates villains of sorts in the scene. Having a villain is always good for a scene, if everyone is just best friends with each other it gets boring.

I thought selfless was the villian with sinatraa and that Danish guy who throws

Too many people love selfless for them to be villains

Most of those people love selfless because of the bm and shit talk, so anti-hero?

I think it became a common strategy among all these teenage teams to try and tilt each other with shit talk. I can't imagine it working with teams like C9.

Overwatch isn't a "sport" it's an "Esport" and people can be completely professional while still shittalking. Plenty of players openly shittalk in "sports" and it just creates better rivalries and storylines that only bring in more viewers.

Professionalism is only needed to sucker in the big sponsors at the start. After that people want drama and scandal to create big headlines and gossip. Outside the 5 o'clock news the biggest headlines and most popular articles are whatever is the most scandalous things or drama filled feuds that people can dig up.

For whatever reason the majority of people seem to enjoy hearing and reading about the biggest holes that those more well-known than them can dig themselves into. Or maybe I'm just cynical shrug.
