See #10, but Kungarna is down 1-0 right now so we don't have to worry about that

posted about 6 years ago

If Toronto and Envision tie 2-2 they will have to go to a tiebreaker map since they have equal map scores and their head to head will be 2 draws

posted about 6 years ago

For completeness...

C9 is 2-1-2 with 8 points right now and 12-8-0 on maps and Kungarna is 1-0-4 with 7 points and 11-9-0 on maps.

In case of a tie in this match, Kungarna gets up to 8 points, so C9 just needs a tie against RNG to advance. If there's a tie here and C9 lose 0-4 to RNG, Kungarna gets in by the map score tiebreaker.

If C9 lose 1-3 to RNG, things get crazy... it looks like they might have to play a map since they'll have tied map scores and head to head is 2 draw games?

posted about 6 years ago

there's the slim chance now that Kungarna could lose to Hammers and then C9 would get in regardless of what happens against RNG, but yea, wouldn't bet on that

posted about 6 years ago

did they announce that this wouldn't be played if FaZe loses to Selfless? I guess there are no other matches scheduled this late so it kinda makes sense.

posted about 6 years ago

CLG are praying for selfless to win here. Otherwise CLG will have to work in their match against Liquid. See this post for details:

OK, last math of the night xD.

FaZe is 1-1-3 right now with 6 points and CLG is 2-2-1 with 7 points.

If Selfless beats FaZe, CLG is in no matter what happens here.

If FaZe beats Selfless they'll have 9 points, and CLG needs a win here to get 2nd seed.

If Selfless and FaZe tie, then FaZe will have 7 points and CLG needs to tie here to get 8. If CLG lose it'll go to tiebreaks but it's impossible for them to get enough maps to win the tiebreaker in this scenario, because FaZe will be 12-12-0 on maps and CLG will have at most 9 map wins.

posted about 6 years ago

It won't come down to tiebreaks

Immortals are in with guaranteed 1st seed, Tempo Storm are out no matter what.

3 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, so since

Arc6 is 2-1-2 right now they have 8 points
FNRGFE is 2-3-0 right now they have 6 points

If FNRGFE win they end with 6+3=9 and Arc6 end with 8+0=8
If FNRGFE draw they end with 6+1=7 and Arc6 end with 8+1=9
If FNRGFE lose they end with 6+0=6 and Arc6 end with 8+3=11

Assuming C9 and Kungarna both beat Hammers, which is a pretty safe bet (?), group D comes down to this match. If C9 beat RNG, C9 advances. If C9 loses or ties here, Kungarna moves on.

now that Kungarna can at best tie here, assuming C9 and Kungarna both beat Hammers, which is a pretty safe bet (?), it looks like if C9 beats RNG, C9 will advance, otherwise Kungarna will move on to playoffs.

posted about 6 years ago

Another on-stream hype matchup: Arc6 needs to tie or win to move on. Otherwise FNRGFE makes it

posted about 6 years ago

FNRGFE just beat Tempo so it's all down to their match against Arc6, which will be streamed, thanks be to Jeff

posted about 6 years ago

If FNRGFE lose to Tempo then Arc6 is in. Otherwise, Arc6 need to tie or beat FNRGFE to get in.

for all the group B 2nd seed marbles!!

posted about 6 years ago

not quite yet maybe? sinatraa said in his discord after they were 0-2 that if they win 6 maps in a row and CLG lose 8 maps in a row they can still get in.

If that happens, then

TL will be 3-1-2
Selfless will be 2-3-1 with 12-11-1
CLG will be 2-3-1 with 7-16-1
Faze will be 1-2-3 with 11-13-0

It looks like they even have a bit of leeway there unless I fucked things up?

while I was writing this, selfless won one and CLG lost one, so ... 5 more wins for selfless, 7 more losses for CLG and the dream is real?

if EnVision wins this then their streamed match against Toronto determines who goes to playoffs. Otherwise NICE CHOICE OF MATCH BLIZZ LUL

I thought of the perfect angle on this - interview a few struggling out-of-work OW casters who say they will do production for loot boxes (even before the dupe nerf).

Maybe you even know someone...?

It'd be nice if there was some icon or something on the front page list or events page for the matches that do get streamed / have VODs. Right now I have to click through each match to check. Maybe something like what the OW Contenders Schedule page has https://www.overwatchcontenders.com/schedule/index/eu

Maybe I'm alone but I think that the standards might be set too high if so many hype matches are being completely lost to history.

As you know, a lot of the third-party tournaments have been unstable. You saw this with the Monthly Melees just stopping, or with the Rivalcades not being held regularly in Europe after a few months.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but isn't the root cause of instability Blizzard's own lack of clarity regarding their future plans? Not sure about the Rivalcades, but this seems kind of unfair to say about the Monthly Melees given what they said about why they had to stop...

OPC is definitely not on the latest patch as of the playoff matches today. I didn't watch enough of the previous games to say anything definitive about those though.

Overwatch esports manager Trevor Housten is quoted as saying "The Overwatch Professional Region will also be made available to approved teams for scrims." in the article so unless I'm mistaken it should be available to at least the APEX teams to use online (as I doubt that they scrim on LAN).

Regarding what version they're on, I'm mainly curious about when the live patches have gone live on the tourney region and whether there's some consistency to that.

posted about 6 years ago

If you don't know what this is, you can read about it here in the context of APEX S2 https://dotesports.com/overwatch/ogn-overwatch-apex-played-on-old-patch-4986

Haven't been able to find any other threads about this but I had a few questions just out of curiosity:

  • I heard that OPC and APEX are both on tourney patches - are they using the same "Region", and are any other tournaments using it? For example, is the Premier Series in China on it as well?

  • I think OW Contenders isn't using this (for now?), but will OWL use this? What about World Cup (lol)?

  • How does it work exactly? Since the article says that some teams can scrim on it, do you give your battletag to Blizzard and they give you access to it in your client?

  • What version is it on exactly and when has it gotten updates? (Is this secret info or can pro players who have access to it give us a detailed rundown including dates of patches? xD)

Feel free to use this thread to discuss Blizzard's tourney patch system in general.

Looks like Immortals will still be playing with DZmins and Nomy ??
