I forgot how excited I get watching RunAway play, that Eichenwald was insane! Get them in OWL now!

Yeah I agree with that first sentence Bag, CamRa could do with being taught logic and reasoning.

In your analogy you're comparing the Pepe meme with the dog. The Pepe meme isn't the dog though, it's equivalent to the KKK outfit. The Pepe meme has been linked as a symbol to the far right and fascism which is where this whole removal situation is stemming from. By your logic the KKK outfit and offensive sign shouldn't be destroyed because it's not the medium that's racist, it's the person themselves. I hope we can all agree that the outfit and sign should be destroyed.

Just to add to this the dog is more like twitch chat, twitter or a players stream etc. The guy used the dog to put up his symbol of hate, much like a user would use Twitter to post a Pepe meme (a symbol for the far right).

Like I said in post #21, it's kinda dumb that Blizzard are doing this because the connection is so weak but your analogy is kinda dumb too lol

Is the idea that the Overwatch community should be a welcoming, family friendly place so awful to everyone? Is it really so despicable that Blizzard want to cut out every form of hateful, offensive behaviour they can find?

I agree, removing Pepe is kinda dumb but you can understand their reasoning. Whether you like it or not the meme does have a connection to the far right and fascism, with Hillary Clinton even releasing an article about it during the presidential election. Yeah it isn't used in that context probably 99% of the time but it still has toxic links.

If we are going to have a nice community filled with an atmosphere of joy, fun and friendliness then the offensive material absolutely 100% has to go. This includes the fringe cases like this where it's not really all that bad, but it's best to get rid of anyway. "But muh free speech!!" I (hopefully never) hear you cry - they're not stopping you from putting it on twitter, your personal discord servers or forums like these. I'll finish on a question like I started: Would it really be so bad if there was a space where everybody loved each other and the only drama was related to what happens in game/on stage?

Did you see it live? Watching Shanghai repel wave after wave of Seoul pressure on defence was so insanely exciting to watch, never mind when they attacked and grinding out the win. Was legit one of my favourite OWL maps regardless of the Seoul lineup (which by the way was still full of Grade A+ players)

posted about 6 years ago

Hey do you guys remember when Dallas played Seoul in their very first game of Overwatch League. Beat Dynasty in Map 1 on Junkertown, fought out a tough 6-5 loss on Anubis, lost control and then drew an insanely close Numbani? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

I want that Dallas back.

posted about 6 years ago

We're getting to a point now where it almost doesn't seem fair.

On the flip side though, Shanghai's map win on Kings Row against Seoul last week wouldn't have been as hype or as special if they didn't have performances like they had today.

I'm told that this is Jake on his alt (please let me know if not cos I really do hope it isn't him). Seems like he snapped a little bit there and what he said is very disappointing. Is this worthy of a fine based on other infractions by other players e.g. Taimou?

At the very least I didn't expect Jake to say something like this. Until now he seemed like one of the nicest guys in the league and definitely someone people could look up to.

When will the drama end?

I like your final paragraph jojo.

Yeah it would 110% be cool if say xQc and Muma had a big rivalry alongside Dallas and Houston, but it's pointless if xQc is banned all the time and Dallas are in constant disarray because of that. You can't let the things that xQc and others such as Taimou have done just slip by to make the league more interesting. Let's get the rivalry going for sure, both entities don't even need to like each other or say nice things, just cut out all the dirty insults and the derogatory terms.

Damn I'm sad I missed this match, it sounds like it was a real nail biter

The "any other job" argument is really, really dumb. Being a pro in OWL isn't anything like other jobs. Streaming for many hours a day to large audiences isn't anything like other jobs. One HUGE aspect of his actual job is to be an entertainer and his style is to push the limits and boundaries of what is acceptable and what isn't.

You can't hold him to the same standards as you would a "normal" job. No shit you'd be fired if you told Sharron from HR to go suck a fat cock but xQc isn't working in a cubicle at an office. Same goes for Taimou, yeah if you called Billy from accounting a fucking faggot you'd be out the door zippity zip, but the same argument rings true, he isn't working "any other job".

I'm not defending xQc here or excusing any of his actions, just pushing back against this ridiculous argument that I've seen so many people make. Condone, judge, condemn all you like but stop with the normal job nonsense.

No word of a lie I was checking out his twitter yesterday and got a really bad vibe from the way he was acting. I didn't expect him to be quite this BAD though. What a genuine joke of a person, thank god Blizzard chucked him in the trash without even as much as a goodbye. I hope he's now remembered as Overwatch's pervy uncle that nobody wants to talk to at family parties. Good riddance.

Would SF Shock really want to take in xQc after how spectacularly badly it has gone at Dallas? Obviously I don't know if this is true but from the outside it looks like Shock have built a solid tight-knit squad with a great atmosphere and team chemistry. Why on earth would you want to bring in somebody so disruptive to potentially ruin what they've got going.

That Kings Row game was so hype, Shanghai were great!

Yeah Kuroi that last sentence is spot on. I'll also begrudgingly admit that Houston are a stellar team and that Jake is a huge part of their success.

posted about 6 years ago

What a rollercoaster of emotions that map 5 was. Poko diving into the well when Philly were on top nearly sent me into a meltdown.

Jake proved today that he's the biggest douchebag in OWL. Gets exposed on any hero that requires skill, can only play Junkrat well, unironically plays Bastion and just gormlessly sits there chewing gum with his mouth open. Best of all, he has the tenacity to say that he's one of the best DPS players in the league. I'm so glad he got t-bagged today.

I'm with the camp that says that the leak is all staged and is just a publicity stunt. I'm willing to bet that the next hero won't be Brigitte

What I definitely know for sure is that Blizzard have done an amazing job of getting me hyped for this new hero, I can't wait!

What are you guys talking about, this headline pun is 10/10

posted about 6 years ago

Why would you play a McCree specialist with a team that runs dive comp? Agilities, Silkthread and Kariv can all play Genji and then flex onto other heroes as needed, Grim can't do that. I guess you could swap him in for Soon but then you're essentially just handicapping the team for the sake of "working as a unit".

The grim reality is that with his skillset and the way the meta is at the moment, there's no place for him in the starting lineup.

posted about 6 years ago

Yeah Silkthread played at least a map in nearly every (maybe all) matches in stage 1
