When Rooky posted the future OWL cities thread, i asked if anyone wanted me to do the thread where i ask pro players what they think the next 5 owl cities will be. I got a resounding yes and here it is. If their were any ties, i would decided who is more likely to join myself. So, here are the results
1.Paris (13)
2.Chicago (9)
3.Toronto (9)
4.Busan (6)
5.Las Vegas (6)
6.Sydney (5)
7.Stockholm (5)
8.Beijing (4)
9.Tokyo (3)
10.Berlin (3)
one of the pro players and i had a very interesting conversation about some of the cities that could be in OWL. The 3 cities we talked about were Berlin, Copenhagen, and Stockholm.

Berlin: I was the one who started with Berlin because it was the players home country. He said that Berlin could be a sleeper for the OWL, but said that if they were going to be in OWL when Europe's expansion phase comes around, he hopes a German football team will buy the spot. That's right when I said FC Shaulke, a new EU LCS teams that is one of the best Bundelsiga Teams in Germany. The FC Shaulke Organization has been around for all long time in football and would have more then enough funding to join OWL. Plus, with a very large fan base, they could have fans across Europe, especially in Germany. When they signed their LOL team, they actually introduced the team to their fans in the beginning of one of their football team's home games

Copenhagen: Copenhagen is the capitol of Denmark, and is becoming a center for Danish esports. Denmark is one of most up and coming esport nations, producing some marvelous esports players such as Bjergson, one of the greatest League of Legends players in the world and Dafran, one of the best Overwatch players. He mentioned how an esport org such as North can potentially buy a spot. North is a great up and coming esport org how are a lot like Optic, an esport org who is having great success in their earliest days. I could defiantly see Copenhagen in the OWL with all the great pros coming out

Stockholm: Last but not least, we have Stockholm, Sweden. Sweden is one of the top 5 best Overwatch nations, with 2 straight bronze finishes in the Overwatch World Cup and a total of 10 players in the inaugural season of OWL, the third most of any nation in OWL, only trailing South Korea (45) and the USA (17). For an esport org to pick up a Stockholm, I believe Fnatic will pick up the spot. In their time in Overwatch, Fnatic was a dominant team, having several top four finishes in tournaments such as the Atlantic Showdown, Overwatch Open, Dreamhack, and MLG Vegas. The org is very big and is considered one of the top 10 best esports orgs in the world. They own a spot in the EU LCS, and have one of the best teams in Europe. Like FC Shaulke, Fnatic has more them enough funding and fans to buy into OWL and keep their spot.

Now in the comments below, i want you guys to take the 10 cities i listed and give each city a team name. I will edit the thread in a week or so with a name picked out for each team that i thought was the best name for the city and the name of the person who suggested the name.

Thanks guys and have a great New Year

tokyo is very unlikely in my opinion as japan is not big on esport

sydney on the other hand i think is likely as we dont have any oceanic cities and this is the most likely one to get in, also during owwc qualifier sydney was easly able to fill a bigger arena than blizzards in la

little more context on copenhagen and north - north was created in january by fc copenhagen and nordisk film and they immediately bought 2nd best danish cs go roster while they failed to meet expectiations they are a very good team
with all this i think its also a likely spot and maybe even organization

paris is also an interesting one as Paris Saint-Germain football (it is fucking football muricans) team owns psg esport organization which for now is only in rocket league, their roster is one of the best in the world
but this is also a very likely spot imo and i think one of french football teams might buy it

id add cologne, specially as cs go menages to fill 15 000 seats every year and its the best place from geographical point of view, close to france poland Sweden and denmark, all the big esport countries in europe

Makes sense to have one in Germany minimum as imo it's the best place for e-sports in Europe based on events and organizations we've had for decades like ESL and the likes so there's no way Blizzard would add more European cities without adding Germany, not sure about Denmark really, sure they provide good e-sports players but it's not somewhere you get big enough events (unless I'm mistaken), I think Blizzard should look at what countries contribute to e-sports in terms of bringing events in and outside of Germany and Poland I can't think of that many.

But at the same time Blizzard will most likely go where the money is and Paris makes sense.

copenhagen games used to be a big cs go tournament back in 2015/2014 not so much now but with investments from fc copenhagen and rise of astralis north and heroic i could see it being a really good place
there are big cs go (i will talk about it coz i watch it and know about it) in kiev and london but its true that nothing comes close to popularity and size of katowice and cologne every year which are able to fill 12 000 and 15 000 seats respectively (i touche on a lot more in my comment)

I think São Paulo should get a spot because esports are having a massive growth in here (the most popular sports channel on the TV hosts esports shows), and we have good brazilian and south american players

If we are gonna have a South American Team, most likely it will be in Rio

São Paulo is the place where buisness happens, and the most populated city in Brazil so imo it should be in Sao Paulo, althoug Rio is also likely to be part of the league
