After watching some of these teams play recently I'm pretty hype. The scoring system really is odd though I agree but hey, for the next challengers they will get a trial through fire trying to beat LW Red + Rhino Gaming Titan and once that's over, come season 4 I think Korea will be super scary.

MVP Infinity vs Rhino Gaming Wings will be a good game to watch. Actually, so will the MVP Space vs Conbox game.

I assume these will still only be with a Korean only cast?

It's such a rollercoaster of emotions watching FaZe sometimes.

Top 500 but I don't think he has a team? Played a few scrims with him + weebs from TF2 + cheridormi before he found his current team. They weren't really serious, just something to pass the time.

posted about 7 years ago

Do they count? They're high/mid hl players? I mean if they do there was also Dragonce and Julletin too.

I didn't realise akke was Jamal! Akke, Lalli and Cheri have had multiple teams together since the release of OW IIRC.

posted about 7 years ago

Yeah Lalli plays forgot that. http://www.gosugamers.net/overwatch/teams/20766-alfa-squad I know cheri from that team is pretty good and they have a solid winrate so could be an up and coming team.

If high hl counts you can have Sami in that list then as well. He was roque on ETF2L and played for HePPa div1/prem hl as well as div2/3 6s. http://etf2l.org/forum/user/2314/

Astt plays I think? http://www.gosugamers.net/overwatch/teams/19885-void-child Also Tonmas, Sami + Snappe.

Dennia too http://www.gosugamers.net/overwatch/teams/20547-boda-socken

I believe Vani tried to but not sure where he ended up. He was on a few teams that formed and disbanded, along with Dennia but I don't know anymore than that. He might be on the SOLAR team? http://www.gosugamers.net/overwatch/teams/19613-solar "v2ni".

Carnifex has a team I think as well, not sure how good. http://www.gosugamers.net/overwatch/teams/20849-faggotini

You forgot FL0W3R for KR.

I think that's all I'm aware of.

I think if you lose you're a bit worse than a mid tier NA team.

Yeah, what Admirable said, a lot of getting into actual competitive overwatch is participating in these smaller tournaments as well as scrumming and improving and getting your team out there. Once you show your worth you'll be able to get into some of the larger tournaments. Some recent ones have Open qualifiers though where you can potentially get into.

I don't think he's as much of a must have pick as he used to be and I think he's engaging enough to play if you wall climb to get to places enemies don't expect whilst still providing your team heals and speed.

I think it's more about the person playing it, sure you could stay on the ground and do a good enough job but why not try a little harder and do a little better? You don't have to go to DSPStanky levels and only go for individual flashy moves but theres lots of places on lots of points lucio's can hide and provide healing.

I also don't think teams punish you as much as you think Sandshrew for going for boops, honestly more often than not, as long as you dont just run at them in a straight line, they hardly even notice you. There's so much you can get away with quite often I'll dive past the rein shield and just boop him into my team, obviously relies on a few factors but that's usually a free kill the team gets and it feels impactful.

The only thing I dislike about lucio is his ult. It's the only disappointing bit of kit he has, for a character all about engaging and disengaging his ult is a shield for a couple seconds. I'd rather he did something different than that but I'm not sure what. Just something that fits into his playstyle and purpose.

Reddit told me EVERMORE is just a noob that can farm elo in the ladder.

Glad they changed discord going through shields as well as weapon spread being removed. They really want Zenyatta to be that fragging support and that's good to see. Ana is the utility and ult stopper and then obviously Lucio for speed and Mercy as the oops I died again.

But it's good they aren't pushing what Zenyatta brings to the team as a whole and focusing on what made Ana enjoyable but bringing it to the hero that is designed to dps. We'll still see other comps.

I could help with the match tracker for games that are easily accessible for GMT timezones as well as occasionally help out with NA tournaments if somebody who normally covers them is MIA. I've been keeping up with all the OGN Apex games and have occasionally watched challengers and would be willing to follow it (although I can't speak Korean). I can cover basically 8am - 1am GMT every day. Tomu#0054 on discord if you want any more info.

Why not just hunker down and work on the problems than leave teams all the time? He obviously has the talent and it's not like going free agent and hoping for the next best thing to just pop its head in is going to be any better.

Envy looked a lot stronger than the last couple games honestly. They had a lot more synergy and were relying a little less on individual big plays. I hope they just go underground for a while and scrim. Just ignore some tournaments unless they're too big and come out an unstoppable machine again.

Just develop their hero pools whilst keeping that same Envy magic.

posted about 7 years ago

I like these Ana changes, will stop her feeling like she does "too much".

The zen damage of destruction change is nice but I don't think he really needs his discord to penetrate through shields. As Bren says dive comp would basically become the only thing to bother playing with and whilst it is entertaining and fun to watch. And probably one of the hardest things to do, I do like the fact we have all these different team compositions at the moment.

Landing discords on the right target is part of the skill required surely, so when you can turn the rein shield it's your priority to get that discord on the Ana in the back or whatever and then your team dives. But if that change goes live it's basically, jump in repeatedly and hope the fight swings in your way.

I feel that they've added it as more of a way to just control Winston who will have A LOT more shield uptime but are ignoring the effect it has on other heroes and team compositions.

I really wish they did small changes and tweaks to heroes rather than just throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks.

posted about 7 years ago

I don't think not being good at a gamemode is an excuse they'd use. Teams in whatever game will always specialise in certain maps, it just happens a lot of the Korean teams are good at CP.

Aaaa I have an appointment at this time noooo. Time to use up all the data on my phone.

I genuinely didn't think they'd push this. It was just too powerful and we knew that from day 1 of the PTR. I mean Jeff said in his recent dev commentary thing that he wants more people to test stuff on PTR but this even sounds strong IN THEORY let alone in practice.

posted about 7 years ago

Oh no. They gave us the entire bastion buff.

posted about 7 years ago

Agreed. It would be nicer if they only changed things up when there's a definite problem but so far this patch isn't even figured out yet.

Aside from the Bastion changes which I hope the devs can see is just way too good, the other tweaks aren't enough to change things. Hog sits around the same kind of usefulness so hopefully (unless the devs lose their minds) it shouldn't change things up too much. Just maybe more bastion strats.

I see EnvyUs as likely to beat lunatic hai as last season. So I have honestly no idea what the actual result will be. That game and Panthera vs LW Blue are going to be the most exciting games to watch.

I mean the main downfall is like I wrote a few days ago. nV's ults are just pointless the majority of the time, it really looks like they don't have a game plan. And this time they went against a team that is as skilled without ultis to be able to contest nV in all the downtime.

And honestly the way Meta Athena play which is sort of either undisciplined at times or it's their plan to just go balls to the wall aggressive with ults and potentially use too many but always secure those wins and then drag out the downtime. But a team should be able to realise that and capitalise on the fact they probably only have a graviton in the downtime. The only time they managed that was when Meta blew everything on their defense of holywood and gifted a 4 ult advantage to nV with 15 seconds left to go.

I think it's time for nV to start reviewing their games and think about how to use their ults better and rely less on individual clutch plays.

MFW people minusfrag some very valid opinions because they what, disagree but can't be bothered to offer their views?

With D.Va probably not coming back full time anytime soon Envy will probably have a similar performance which honestly compared to the Envy on the D.Va patch was a car crash of a performance. Whether it was disrespect or they were clueless that first round on Nepal was really a disaster you don't expect.

All through the other maps their ult usage was a bit of a mess with gravitons getting lost or not having as many high value plays as they had been having. They literally had Taimou save the game for them but even then he looked unsure to be picking Widowmaker a few times and chose it as a last resort. Overlooking this is just silly.

Hopefully that was just new patch shakes and we'll see them come back in full force with the old Envy co-ordination we're used to seeing but anybody that thinks their last game went well for them has deluded themselves.

It will be interesting to see who they will pick up and what the tempting offer was for those that left. If it was the full Kungarna roster they were picking up it would definitely be picking a strong team but now we'll have to wait and see what results the new team will get. The orgs setup sounds pretty nice though.

Some great digging here Sideshow.

Yeah I figured as much. Was just wondering if there were any scandals pushed under the rug going on with tournaments not paying out like has happened in DOTA a few times.

Damn that was fast. Do we know how much of that has been paid out though?

Overwatch is sort of in a funny time though as its learning to stand on its own two feet. Tournaments are going to pop up so you will struggle to find a perfect time, until the Overwatch league starts anyway. Dota is lucky in the sense that the majors and the international are organised by Valve so they can have more say in the schedule of the patches vs major lan tournaments.

To keep the game fresh I think it's nice to get patches but for now it's a slog for Blizzard I imagine because they're trying to get the right balance first. And then to make the game fresh after that they have to create that same good balance whilst making it seem new which is a whole other challenge.

The trouble is it seems they're just throwing things at the wall and seeing what sticks and at least now that the game has been released for a while it's not that enjoyable to see. They should start off doing these little tweaks and to see what happens after a few weeks until they get it to a point that they're happy with. Then they can start doing major patches with multiple hero changes/reworks.

Zunba is such a great Zarya player I'm happy for him and lunatic hai. It will be interesting to see if they try and make a re-imagining of the world cup team from all these players and if it can achieve some more success.
