Sombra being released to PTR today or tomorrow. How much will she be nerfed before live? Discuss competitive/casual things?

I'm not really looking forward to a trolly stealth character. Also that smg has 60 per clip which is ridiculous.

I am not afraid of her abilities but her firepower. From what I seen at blizzcon, she is literally a running Bastion

watched a little gameplay and i didn't think her gun looked that bad. i dislike that her ult seems zero-risk, zero brain capacity required. just press q and debuff the entire enemy team for 6 seconds? what's the counter to that?

we'll see how she plays out but i'm not looking forward to it. the more i read about this hero the more i want blizzard to just take her back. at first i thought hack was just removing abilities but it's apparently a lot more...?

"Hacked enemies cannot use abilities but may still use passives. Channeled abilities are cancelled, including ultimates. Hacked enemies also have their health bar and ultimate status revealed. The reveal duration lasts longer than the ability disable duration."

i guess if i had to make one criticism of this game it's just that it didn't have enough CC abilities

Woah, it's another countdown until you can play her, really amazing that they are staying true to their arg vision! :^)
edit: wtf, I reached 800 players ahead of me and it suddenly changed back to 30000

I played her abit. My first thoughts:

  • Damage output doesn't look that much.
  • The translocator is really fun.
  • Hacking healthpacks seems a bit over the top.
  • She's really, really fast with the stealth thingy.
  • Hacking mei's on Hanamura etc is gonna be a thing.

I think they need to tone down her whole kit. Hacking healthpacks lasts too long. Stealth has a crazy short cooldown for an invisible power. It's also an incredibly frustrating and trolly character to play against. It makes me afraid for whatever next character will ruin the basic FPS gameplay that is fun about this game. Perhaps building a large hero pool in an FPS isnt sustainable for fun game play.

So, a movement based character with only her basic weapon to do damage, a character that strips others to a basic FPS gameplay - is ruining the basic FPS gameplay?

What would this game be like Mei Walls weren't a thing--if CC wasn't a thing, etc. I'm afraid maybe the problem with Overwatch long-term is it tries to pack too many abilities into this game just for the sake of new heroes to have fun with, when it changes the game to know that a character can take away someone else's abilities.

I wonder if the next generation of FPS games inspired by Overwatch will ban things like crowd control from Mei's kit simply because it's not fun to play against.

The game is friendly for everyone, or you can say it's casually-oriented. Blizzard did mention about this before I believe, which is why you see some pro LoL players who couldn't find their places in the competitive LoL scene made a switch to Overwatch and did just fine. It doesn't need to be a bad thing for FPS game though I hope Blizzard would tune all those ultimate abilities and some characters in the nearest future. I kinda get annoyed with Hanzo and Mei.
